sorry but i don't think you can claim to love akihiko or shinjiro if you hate ken. you just can't. if you can't see the paralells between ken, akihiko, and shinjiro then you lack a fundamental understanding of not only their characters, but the game itself

Ken Amada doesn’t deserve the shit he gets for Oct. 4th. Shinjiro didn’t have to meet him that night. Ken did not force him. Mitsuru and Akihiko should have been more on top of it. Ken couldn’t have known about Takaya’s plan. Shinjiro could have let Ken die. He didn’t have to take the bullet for him. Do you ever think about why he did though? Because the drugs he was taking weren’t what was already killing him.
It was guilt.
Almost all of Shinjiro’s actions were taken out of guilt. Leaving S.E.E.S., distancing himself, taking drugs (I think the anime BS'ed it saying it was because he couldn’t control his Persona), not attending class, re-joining S.E.E.S. out of the blue, agreeing to meet Ken, taking the bullet in his place. The Answer reveals a bit more about the extent of the damage Shinjiro caused. Not only did he kill Ken’s mother, but he also destroyed HIS WHOLE ENTIRE HOUSE too. Imagine being like 9 years old and not only has someone just murdered your mother, but your home is in shambles too. Mitsuru just made it worse by covering it up. Shinjiro felt so guilty about the whole thing that he left not long after.
Shinjiro took the bullet not because he was selfless. Kind of the opposite actually. He didn’t mind dying that way because in his eyes that was redemption. Dying in Ken’s place was the only way he could forgive himself, and maybe, get Ken to forgive him too.
If you need to blame anyone I think it’s only fair to blame Mitsuru for the whole thing because had she been more vigilant she might have noticed Shinjiro losing control. She was aware of the possiblity at the time. If she had then Ken’s mom might not have died that night. Mitsuru didn’t learn her lesson and once again got too absorbed in pursuing Shadows to notice the potential fallout of neglecting those around her (or lack thereof), hence them not making it to Ken and Shinjiro in time. She also didn’t bother telling Ken about the whole cover up with his mom or why she did it until half way through The Answer, which is a year after the protagonist passes away. Akihiko could have been a better friend to Shinjiro and helped more though. Shinjiro no doubt pushed away though, but maybe he could have helped him talk it out with Ken.
Either way it’s still pretty fucked up to blame a young kid and want him dead for it.

Even though I have tried to point out some Shinji fans are irrational, but the thumbs of the STUPID SHITTY COMMENT just increases continuously.
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SHINJI WOULD LIVE NORMALLY IF KEN "DIE INSTEAD". JUST USE YOUR BRAIN TO READ P3 STORY 100 TIMES AND STOP TO TAKE OUT YOUR ANGER OUT ON THE CHILD WHO SHINJI WANTED TO PROTECT FOR THE ATONEMENT. Whether you hate ken or not, there was the choice made by Shinji himself, he cared ken that made he was Shinji.
How absurd butthurt Shinji fans can ignore Shinji's feeling and personality and choice that even claim they like Shinji. ARE THEY LOVING SHINJI FROM THEIR IMAGINATIONS RATHER THAN P3?????

Honestly, I think that Ken is one of the strongest characters in P3. The amount of depth he has for an 11-year old is impressive, and I don’t believe he deserves all the blame for the mistakes he makes since he is so young during the game. He shows really strong development and maturity in a cast dominated by those much older than him. Ken will always be one of the best Persona characters to me.
