Doodle I did late June, it's based on a little interaction from Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red but that's just my excuse to draw Aya for the first time lol - (I don't really like talking about myself and my current conditions, but since I've been posting less lately I just wanna say that I caught a flu few weeks ago and it's been a struggle to sleep, but I'll get better and post new art here soon)

Empire of Japan, for all its faults, was ready to end World War II before the bomb. The diplomats literally asked to surrender to the USA, but asked to let the Soviet Union be at the negotiating table because the Soviet Union's Red Army was a short distance from Hokkaido (reaching the Sakhlins and Manchuria) and was sure to launch an attack on it. Hokkaido, being one of the so-called Home Islands (I don't like this term for Hokkaido), was just as dire in the eyes of the politicians of the Empire of Japan as the impending invasion on Kyushu.
Since the USA did not want to do a joint trusteeship of Japan like with Korea or heaven forbid, risk the USSR being the sole influencer of Japan, rather than letting the USSR get in on the negotiation, the USA demanded unconditional surrender. This was something that the Empire of Japan could not do, given that the USA's ally in the war would still fight them after the surrender. So, of course, the diplomats declined, and this is used as a pretext to nuke 2 cities full of civilians (including non-Japanese civilians). They dropped a horrific weapon never used before or since on a country that's ready to surrender because they didn't want their allies at the negotiating table. Is that the "best option"? For whom? The USA? At what cost? Just admit to yourself that millions of Asian civilian lives aren't human in your eyes if it means the USA gets a new country to exploit if this is the line you're pushing.
"this would be so good if it was good" might just be my favourite sentence to use when analysing any media
because it's not a meaningless thing to say
some things will always be mid at best, but sometimes things that suck could be so good, if only they were good
hydrogen-7 lasts longer than H4, H5, and H6. maybe we should just keep sticking on neutrons and see if we can get somewhere
the older i get the more i start hating that "traumadumping" is seen as a toxic behaviour when its actually a blatant sign that that person is struggling.
like idk about you but if my friend or aquaintance starts textwalling me on discord about their family abusing them as a child or something, my first thought isnt "ugh this is so inconsiderate of them. toxic" its "oh no i think my friend is having emotional flashbacks :(" regardless of if i have the energy to engage with them about it at the time.
this isnt even getting into how minorities are often treated as though theyre "traumadumping" just for talking about their lived experiences in a deeply bigoted society. specifically thinking of disabled people at the moment but i feel its also applicable to most other oppressed groups.
ive had some reblogs now that have brought up that its only really traumadumping if its a stranger, and while i agree that there are situations in which sharing exact details of your trauma is inappropriate, i do want to kind of reiterate that that still indicates that the person doing that is not doing well, which is what i was really trying to get at here. people who are in a good place mentally dont typically feel the need to unprompted tell a stranger about their trauma.
hey whats goin on. my names tristan and i'll be taking your order today. can i get you started with some drinks or maybe one of our famous appetizers like the hot marinara mozzies or a bloomin onion
sorry, it was a self insert the whole time
