Upon being met by that silence, that oh so familiar silence she had long grown accustomed to living inside the house of the dead, her first instinct wasn't to turn around, face the one she'd been waiting on for countless hours-- Hours ? Days. Days, weeks ? No, that was silly to think about. It didn't matter how long it had been, she'd never truly know anyways, so why bother dwelling on it. Why bother thinking about it in the first place. It had come to the point now where anyone could've just wandered in and she'd believe it was him, and though she had been wrong times before, there was nothing stopping that shred of hope that remained.
She turned her head slightly, watching the long graying arms to her right swaying-- if you could even call their occasional twitching that, back and forth. She had to sayĀ something,Ā anything, but what was there to say ? Although he may have broken his promise, abandoned her, she could never truly resent him for it even if she tried. If she felt anything at all, it was the complete opposite, confusing as it was. She'd thought about it in solitude, thought aboutĀ him. If she were to turn now, get a glimpse of his face for the first time in so long, surely she'd end up throwing herself into his arms.
Which is what she wanted to do.
Yet she held herself back when she finally did turn to face him.
Without uttering so much as a single word, Kali strode towards him, stumbling once, twice, before finally stopping. Behind her, the infinite hands receded back into the ground. She wouldn't need them, no, not now,Ā especiallyĀ not now.
So just how long has it been, my dearest Dark Link ?Ā Was what she felt like saying, but not in a harsh tone. Instead, she simply began circling around him, trying to keep her balance as best she could while doing so.
In truth, there was so much she wanted to say, but it was all a matter of timing, take things slow, she'd told herself.
Speak. Say something before it's too late. Something subtle, anything at all...
"... I... missed... you..." she finally managed to choke out in an awfully hollow sounding voice. Well, it was something she meant sincerely, even if it wasn't what she had in mind. So much for being subtle.
