THE UNKNOWN PHOTOGRAPHER

In 2012 a fateful choice of a TV channel has brought me face to face with the atrocities of the Syrian rebellion. I was shocked that such crimes against humanity were happing at the literal door step of Europe and yet outside of the war-torn country, life went on as usual. So in the summer of 2012, finding myself unable to be a bystander any longer, with camera in hand, I walked across the Turkish border into Syria and thus the Unknown Photographer was born. While wanting to share the raw images of war to raise awareness of what is truly happening in the conflict, I found myself also deeply affected by the everyday people that live on the frontlines and still manage to maintain their humanity, their kindness, their humor and undying hope for a better future. Men, women and children who live every day without knowing if they will see the next sunrise and yet still manage to show the kind of open-hearted hospitality to a stranger that is rarely found in our world today. Join me, The Unknown Photographer, in this journey through hope and devastation of the Syrian nation as the war rages on and the humanity continues its un-relentless struggle for freedom.

Every 30-60 minutes groups of 100 refugees are allowed to board the train to Vienna in Budapest. But apparently 5km before the border they are forced to leave the train and walk those last 5km.

I have been in Ukraine for the last two months and decided it is time to head back home again. But before I head home I want to document the refugee route from Hungary all the way to Germany. To do this project I will want to travel together with refugees all the way to their final destination. In order to do this I am in need of a few small donations that can cover my costs in getting there and to get connected with refugees who allow me to travel alongside with them.

There is a lot of media coverage when it concerns the huge influx of refugees traveling to Europe, yet I hope to give an unique look into their journey and travels as they continue to cross borders in their search for freedom away from war.

Thus I have opened up a donations page again.

In return I can only offer my photography, when you donate you'll receive a link to a password protected site where it is possible to view photography that has never been published on social media.

I am in need of a minimum of 200 EUR in order to get to Hungary and cover some living expenses. Even the most smallest amount of donations will help me get there and try to show the world, in my own style of photography, how the Syrian people venture on this unbelievable journey to a better life.
