Showbiz was Museās debut album, having been recorded between 1998 and 1999. The songs themselves included some of the older songs in Museās repertoir, dating as far back as 1996. All songs on the album had been witten by 1997. These were among the āfifty or soā that Muse had written before entering the studio.Ā The band picked those which they deemed least progressive to make up Showbiz. A lot of the songs that appear on Showbiz, were written on Matthewās nanās basement with damp down the walls, egg boxes up them and weird shiny black spiders, which inspired Muse around that time musically. āItās all about power and hitting people with large walls of sound.ā - Matt Bellamy āItās not all about relationships with people. Itās sometimes about growing up with all this technology and everything around us. I think you could learn to do things the wrong way. The problem becomes communicating with people.ā - Chris Wolstenholme

Muse and Chris Martin Facts
- Both Coldplay and Muse toured together in their earliest days, playing 1,000 capacity venues and Matt and Chris became quite good friends, partying at the flat that Dom, Tom, and Matt shared in London
-Ā āMatt would text Chris calling Coldplay āthat āYellowā bandā; Chris would direct his reply to āMr Pomp Rock Short-Arseā - Out of This World
- After Coldplay became widely known due to Yellow, Chris still asked to visit Muse at their concerts and at one point asked to introduce them, walking on stage and saying,Ā āāHello, Iām Chris from the band Coldplay, this is the greatest live band in the world, will you please welcome Muse.ā
- According to Coldplayās own website, āChris claims at least one song on Rush of Blood was inspired by how embarrassed he was of his inferior piano skills when he showed Matt Bellamy some of the songs in progress.ā
After looking at all the song lyrics from A Rush of Blood to the Head I would like to think itās this song:
āGod Put A Smile Upon Your Faceā Where do we go nobody knows? Iāve gotta say Iām on my way down God give me style and give me grace God put a smile upon my face Where do we go to draw the line? Iāve gotta say I wasted all your time, (oh honey honey) Where do I go to fall from grace? God put a smile upon your face, yeah Now, when you work it out Iām worse than you Yeah, when you work it out I wanted to Now, when you work out where to draw the line Your guess is as good as mine Where do we go nobody knows? Donāt even say youāre on your way down, (when) God gave you style and gave you grace And put a smile upon your face, ah yeah Now, when you work it out Iām worse than you Yeah, when you work it out I wanted to Now, when you work out where to draw the line Your guess is as good as mine Its as good as mine [x7] Where do we go nobody knows? Donāt even say youāre on your way down, (when) God gave you style and gave you grace And put a smile upon your face
their song āClocksā was also inspired by Muse. Chris said about the song Ā āThatās the newest song on the record. We recorded that very, very fast. That was inspired by Museā Heās also said thatĀ for the songĀ āFix Youā he tried to get the same sound that Matt achieved with the church organ for āMegalomaniaā but he couldnāt find access to one.
