Verily, it seems as though I am unable to stay away from this accursed world for overly long. Some of thee have proved to be most... intriguing, therefore I shall swear to keep a solemn eye on thou all for as long as the Outside continues it's woeful work.

The use of this contraption shall prove useful in both communication and observation, though I doth desire such malefic brightness to be a little dimmer.

"Thy manner of speech is nigh impossible to comprehend. Are thy observational skills as sorely lacking as thy tongue? It seemeth so." The Spider squints, singular eye narrowing as it contemplated on whether to answer this L.S or not. For some reason, being called gross seemed like it actually annoyed it. "I am not gross. Prithee, allow me to elucidate as so to assuage thy fears upon perceiving mine form - I am a spider in appearance only. This vessel thou art witness before thee is merely that, a form given to me by this world. Thou wouldest be unable to comprehend mine true existence otherwise."

Sam gulps, a sinking feeling in gut sounds as if on cue, and his feet root him to the ground. Those words... Has he really been out and about for so long? Yes. And he's been fighting, and looting, this whole time. God, what's going to happen? What cursed creature is after him this time? He steels his nerves and readies his weapon on his side. "Show yourself." It's meant to intimidate, though he can barely believe the tone himself.

The room pulses, almost as though breathing and as if obeying his command, the darkness itself began to coalesce, coming together until it had amassed into... whatever was staring down the little man daring to stand before it. Pinpricks of red cut through the black, and it was absolutely sizing him up. Sam. One of the few remaining inhabitants who hadn't y̸e̶t̶ looked outside. Unchanged, unnerved but still willing to stand his ground despite the very real danger he'd consistently put himself in, abandoning the safety of his little room to do the things he needed to do. Now that danger had been given form, lurching towards him on shambling limbs.

“▅▅▄▄▃▃▂▂???” Somehow, you understand it. "W̷ h̵ y̷ ̶ d̶ o̴ ̷ y̵ o̴ u̸ ̴ n̷ o̸ t̸ ̷ r̶ u̵ n̶?̸" (why do you not run?) The question springs to mind unbidden. Fighting and searching for supplies was one thing; survival was essential to all living creatures, but Sam was... different, somehow. Most people would not do what he did, would not make the sacrifices necessary. Most people would simply hunker down in the safety of their homes until the storm had passed, but not Sam. The path back to Apartment 33 was clear. Sam still had enough time to escape if he wanted to, to run back home where it was safe, but if he stayed, they might both learn the answer to that question.

In case anybody wonders what Spider's voice sounds like, I like to imagine it sounds like Imu from O.ne P.iece (aka the shadowy figure with red eyes for those unfamiliar with the series)

Off topic but I am so sorry if I am too eager sometimes and spam likes or send too many asks, from all my accounts. I forgot how much I enjoy roleplaying and the LO community has been ✨exquisite✨, I just don't have enough hours in the day to enjoy it all and get too excited when I do🥺

"Thou art correct. I shalt not lie, stranger; verily I think it is a hopeless task and mankind is doomed to unutterable fates 'neath the watchful eye of the one thou hath cleped the Visitor. Not only hath I failed every attempt at preserving this world, I hath watched it succumb countless times over to endings each more abhorrent than the last. It is with great shame I admit I could no longer bear such a tormentous endeavour. I sealed mineself away in a place few would think to look and fewer still would crack open, until one more obdurate than I shattered it." The Spider speaks solemly, almost seeming to withdraw into itself as it refrains from detailing further. The countless lives it had seen snuffed out was testament to that, not just in this timeline but too many others, fractions of infinite possibilities and choices that each inevitably led to unspeakable ends. An incorrect offering. Foes that were far too strong to be tackled just yet. Trusting the wrong person and following them to certain doom. Offerings too dangerous to be found so easily, and so were sealed away themselves with savage guardians to defend them. All these and many more were just glimpses of what had been and what could be, if somehow the right person could be found... Someone like Sam? Perhaps. That future had not been determined yet. "Still, I hath yet regained a spark of hope, tiny as it may be. That person I speaketh of is possessed of a rare kindness and fearsome strength in equal amounts. He may succeed where I hath failed and for his sake, I hope he does."

do you need to eat and drink at all? can you still enjoy them even if you dont?

"Aye, I doth require sustenance for as I long as I maintain this form thou sees before thee. Regretfully this vessel hath needs unlike mine own yet human victuals and beverages are not unduly unpleasant. I hath taken a peculiar liking to this... how doth thee pronounce this liquid, cola? Thy taste can be compared to naught else!" The Spider shrinks back to it's position behind Sam's fridge, melding with the darkness around it until only an eye can be seen peeking out.

Spider you can't be one or the other or neither you got to pick one or else they'll come after you as a gender criminal

"Ah. I hath since gleaned some humans can be most pretentious when it comes to such matters. Fear not, for if they try anything, I shall smite them most wickedly ere they think to trifle others again." They wouldn't admit they rather liked the idea of becoming a gender criminal. They were already many terrible things, what was one more?

So, umm... what ARE you, exactly? Also are you a Mr. or Mrs, I just want to make sure of that.

"T'would be folly to try and explain mine nature to thee. I am not a creature of thy world, therefore trying to expound my being wouldest be like trying to describe how colour is to a man who hath always been blind, or what sound is to one who is profoundly deaf. Prithee, thy only concern is that I pose no threat to thee, save thee be suddenly and swiftly taken by madness like so many other cursed souls as of late." The Spider hesitates for a moment before continuing in a softer tone. "As of male or female, I am both yet neither. This body thou seeeth before you is but a vessel in which to be perceived more easily by mortal eyes, and needs precious little else. It resembles a spider and therefore shall suffice, but know that thee hath mine permission to refer to mine own as thy please. Male, female, it matters not to me."

Hello Mr (or Mrs?) Spider! Umm, this might be a strange question but who do you like best in Apartment 33?

"I do not 'like' any of the individuals tarrying within Apartment 33. Each of them be a lost soul who - be it through fate or fortune - was taken in by the tender mercies of Sam's heart thus contribute to his efforts however they can. Several of their number, lo, I can scarce comprehend how and why Sam can tolerate them so." The Spider wrings one of many legs, inky black appendage reminiscent of a thinker's pose. "The most fair may perchance be Morton. The cricket-man's habits of pilfering petty trinkets is as audacious as it is bemusing to beold but thy insight and erudition of wordsmanship doth be prestigious, and is not easily outdone."
