I think we should figure out what age we’re living in now so we can say how it’s collapsing to each other
Our age of plastics is collapsing
Our age of information is collapsing! *remembers generative AI, nods to self* our age of information is collapsing.
"In Pieces but Still Holding It Together." By Bouke de Vries (2020).
See more of his stuff here.
Babe are you okay? you reblogged “In Pieces by Still Holding It Together” By Bouke de Vries for the five hundredth time today.
just watched a star trek episode about a planet that relied so heavily on it's computer system that they all forgot the basics of their own knowledge. and that allowed them to miss the fact that they were being posioned with radiation and nearly ending their civilization. because they couldn't use their own knowledge to figure things out. i bring this up for no reason in particular
Everything'll be alright
The Middle - Kelty Greye & KidMotel
Everyone loves a cycle aware Orpheus but what about a cycle aware Eurydice? Eurydice who tries her hardest to resist the hunger and the cold. Tries to convince Orpheus to just LOOK UP time and time again to no avail. Eurydice who KNOWS and still fails. She knows he’s gonna turn around. She knows they’re not gonna make it out of hell together. But she hopes. Every time she hopes that he loves her a little bit less than the last time. Hopes he won’t look back. But of course, Orpheus is still Orpheus. And he loves her more than anything.
i do love how both the supergirl and superman films featured the moral lesson of “it’s beneficial to kill pedophiles/abusers/genocidal world leaders etc BUT it’s also important to have people in the world who refuse to kill at all costs, especially if those people are vulnerable & developing (e.g. children) or immensely powerful & capable of doing good without violence (e.g. superman)” and honestly it’s kind of based
HUGE developments in the big silly baby wearing fluffy pajamas fandom:
Oregon Zoo 05/30/26: This flouf is one of 15 healthy California condor chicks to hatch at our conservation center this season. A new record! #Condorable #KeepCalmAndCarrion
i love this guy
I think what drives me crazy more than anything else is “maybe it’ll turn out this time” because unlike what Hadestown would have you believe we’ve actually been trying to “fix” the ending of Orpheus and Eurydice for as long as that myth has been told.. we have been trying to puzzle out a way in which they get their happy ending.. Gluck gave them a happy ending in 1762 because how could you listen to Orpheus’s lament and not let him take her home with him!!! The game Hades has them end happily together again!!! Even in the original myth they are reunited in death!!! Who could listen to their tragedy and not try and make a better world for them!!!!!!
Among the many amazing aspects of the Hadestown pro-shot, one of my favorites is the way Patrick Pages injury provides an excellent example of how disability does not have to be barrier to musical theatre. The way his injury was presented, especially in Hades and Persephone's dance, shows how with enough care, choreography and blocking can be modified for a disability and still present a beautiful story. In fact, the pro-shot shows how disability can not only be accommodated, but also utilized for characterization and storytelling.
I was told that I’d get used to not having a headphone jack. I still want a fucking headphone jack. I hate that phones don’t have them. It’s stupid and awful and I hate it
