Y‘know What i noticed?

Undertaker looks SAD. I mean, he is obviously smiling, but it doesn‘t really look convinced. THe brow is tilted and the way his lashes are drawn that is characteristic of a downlooking/sadlooking expression.

Now for context: this is when he pretends to want to kill ciel. It’s a trap so he can stab Sebastian. So why does he look sad?

It’s either a) because it’s part of the act.

or b) because the prospect of „the Earl“ dying really does make him sad.

There are points to be made for both options honestly. Would Sebastian even be able to see UT from that angel? Maybe, considering we don‘t know the specifics of how well demons can see. (I‘d say probably. ) Undertaker is a really good actor, I mean he fooled everyone until he chose to reveal himself. But also if he intended to kill ciel why look sad? Undertaker has been shown to cry at a picture of Vincent, is it so absurd that he would look even remotely moved by pretending to have to kill his son?

Interestingly enough in the anime, they changed this a bit.

This is the scene where he grabs Ciel

And this is when he says „I can finally put you into one of me coffins Earl“ (they changed the line slightly or maybe the translation is different)

Y‘see that? He is grinning. He doesn‘t look sad. So maybe he wasn‘t intended to look like that? Anyway I see this as a form of confirmation that his expression doesn‘t match what he is saying. Why that is, is left to speculation.

Also, interesting fact, only women of the Han ethnic group practiced foot-binding.
