Hello and welcome to the Undertale Fanart Project!

(Such a creative name, I know)

My goal is to draw all of Undertale, one day at a time. Through means of many navigation links, my longterm goal for this blog is for a reader to be able to move through it as similarly as possible to how you might move through the actual game, albeit with certain limitations due to this being a tumblr blog and not a custom website or something where I could actually keep track of your choices to lock you into specific routes.

That's the lofty longterm. For the start, I'm "just" going to draw every room in the game, mostly skipping over encounters and dialogue and suchlike.

Anyone who wants to draw the game alongside me or do their own version of this project is extremely encouraged to do so! In fact, here's a post specifically to help you with that.

The project officially begun on 2/2/2026 because this was my birthday present to myself.

About me:

My name is Soléna! Note that that's pronounced "sole-ANE-uh", NOT "sole-EEN-uh", which is why I add the accent when I feel like spelling it right. Feel free to nickname me as you desire, but most people call me Sol.

I prefer they/them or it/its pronouns, but you can use masc ones or neos if you want. They aren't Correct but they aren't gonna offend me or anything. I dislike she/her because it is the pronoun of choice for people who do not respect me, so that one will get you Suspicious Side-Eye™ and a block if you seem actively malicious about it. It's really not a big deal, though.

Feel free to send asks and dms whenever, regardless of if we've spoken before. If you're worried you might be doing it in a socially unacceptable way, fear not: as a somewhat socially awkward weirdo myself, I don't actually care if someone else is weird at me.

Pretty much the only way to actually annoy me is to actively try to or to be really stubborn about trying to make me agree with opinions I think are dumb, and short of that I'm gonna enjoy basically any interaction because my real special interest is the infinite diversity of the human condition but I'm too socially awkward and introverted to start conversations myself 99% of the time. You're literally doing free social labor for me.

I think intellectual property is a stupid concept and that the best art is collaborative and community driven. To this effect, you don't have to ask my permission before using my art for things. I'm fine with tracing, reposting, derivative works, editing my stuff… whatever.

I don't go as far as slapping on a "no rights reserved" label but short of using my stuff for hate speech or impersonating me and not being sufficiently funny about it (I WILL grade you) I actively encourage "stealing" my work.

Obviously I'd appreciate if anyone doing that credited me and included a link back to my blog, (and also @-ed me or otherwise sent it to me so I can check it out and exclaim in joy that someone liked my stuff enough to do that) but I'm neither your mom nor a cop and I'm not gonna come after you if you don't.

I'd also prefer if anyone doing this was similarly lax about enforcing their "ownership" of whatever they use my stuff for, but again, not your mom. I will dramatically sigh and shake my head in disapproval in my best imitation of the cultural zeitgeist of momhood, though.

SINGULAR EXCEPTION TO THIS: Commissions, for reasons that should be obvious. Don't do anything with those without asking. But I label them, so they should be easy to differentiate. (Plus I'm not currently planning to post any on this blog lol.)

I draw Flowey in this room so often because it's one of like two rooms in the game where I've actually caught him stalking me during playthroughs before.

(For reference for anyone less completely obsessed with Undertale trivia, there's several rooms where you have a chance of spotting Flowey ducking underground if you backtrack, implying that he's following you from a distance through the whole game. It's most common to spot him in the Ruins because a lot of people backtrack for the special Toriel dialogue, but it's not the only place he shows up. The first place I ever spotted him during a run was actually during the bomb defusal sequence with Mettaton.)

The reason the last five pieces all have basically the same composition is because they're all based on the fifth piece! It was one of my favorite panels from that comic, so I end up coming back to it every so often to see how I can improve on it now that I'm older and have more practice.

Day 24 of recreating the entirety of Undertale via fanart:

Froggit Hallway (room_ruins5)

Originally drawn: January 22nd, 2026.

I don't really consider this to be meaningfully the same room as the previous or next ones even if they're all technically one area in the game's code, so that's why this is three different posts rather than one.

Anyway. Though this is common knowledge as far as I know among fellow lore enjoyers, for more casual fans you might find it interesting to know that the Froggit encounter in this room is the first real choice in the game. Whether or not you fight the dummy has no effect on what ending you get (though it does change Mad Dummy's stated reason for wanting you dead) but while you only get one turn against the Froggit in this room before Toriel scares it off, that's enough time to kill it (provided you crit) and doing so is a requirement for the genocide run.

Okay, last of the formerly unposted comics for now until I either draw more or manage to dig up some stuff that I don't have saved in my art folder. (Of which there isn't likely to be much unless it's stupid old, because I'm extremely meticulous about saving and organizing my art, especially for comics.)

This time instead of a whole bunch of comics it's literally just one, because I did an 11 page storyboard for this.

It's a lyric comic of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. Originally drawn May 19th, 2023.

I did sort of post this, but it's just a nicer looking version of the first three pages. Never got around to the rest. Partially because this was back when I was less experienced with doing lyric comics, so I wasn't good at getting them to cohere and tell a specific story yet, so this is fairly disjointed and out of order and I knew I'd have to rework it significantly to make it actually do what I was going for.

Fair warning, this one has suicide in it. That warning's not for Chara though, for once – It's for what happens to Alphys in certain neutral endings.

Starting with the Sans fight would be an interesting narrative choice if I'd put more thought into it than just it being the sequence that inspired me to draw the song, since soulless pacifist runs and pacifist runs set after abandoned genocide runs are my absolute favorite progression to use for comics.

But I didn't really have the discipline back then to use lyric comics to tell a story rather than just matching cool lyrics to cool scenes, so I didn't really do anything with it, and without a strong narrative throughline you can tell a lot of these panels were mostly just here to fill space.

Alphys' background heroics on a genocide run (or in her queen ending) versus what happens to her in dark runs where literally anyone else can do it is genuinely very interesting to me, and I think it's worth exploring the way that she'll only abstain from suicide if she's the only one left who can lead monsterkind in Asgore's absence.

Don't think I hit the mark I was aiming for here, though. It's not something that works to use for a single verse and then drop without a clear resolution. Suicide's not something you want to bring up just to bring it up, you know?

Suicide is something that comes up a lot in my comics and in my writing, but that's because I'm doing something with it and using it as an actual story element. It's there to contribute something. In this comic, it's kind of just… Here.

Divorce 🎉🎉🎉

You can definitely see seeds of later comics here. The focus on regret and on walking almost all the way down the worst path before stopping and deciding to turn around, the attempt to feed each verse into this overarching emotional throughline in order to build to true pacifist as a conclusion, the way everything comes back to Asriel and Chara in the end… 

These are all themes I built on and developed further in later comics, and the core of the idea behind this one was very much solid. I just needed more practice to properly nail the execution of it, and the discipline to really hone in on just a few parts of it rather than trying to tell every story in my head at the same time.

I've mostly just been criticizing this comic here, but don't mistake that for me actually feeling negatively towards it. I like to pick apart my old art to see how I can improve on it specifically because I do like it and understanding where it failed allows me to consider how I could improve on it with the benefit of hindsight, so that when I gut it for all the best ideas to reuse in new work I can make them shine to their fullest.

Snowdin Masterlist

Masterlist for Snowdin. Each area is labeled with both the "official" name from the game files and a colloquial one I either made up or took from the Undertale Text Project. Rooms with multiple distinct sections may be further subdivided into multiple entries according to my arcane whims.

Certain rooms which only become accessible after backtracking from later parts of the game, such as Sans' room and the room behind the mysterious door, may be posted out of order. Don't be surprised if those stay inaccessible long after everything around them has been posted and hyperlinked. 

Console exclusive rooms are not currently included in the project because I'm PC only and honestly tend to forget they exist most of the time. I will add them eventually, but they aren't currently my priority. (Sorry, Mad Mew Mew fans! *Since this room is only accessible after no-hitting the credits on true pacifist (EVIL) It's probably the very last room I'll draw for the whole project, at least out of the ones that are accessible through normal gameplay at all. (The ones you can only get to by messing around with debug mode or editing your save are another matter, for obvious reasons.)

**Listing this for completion's sake because the game considers it separate from Sans' room with the lights on for code purposes. It actually getting a separate post to itself will be treated as a bonus post rather than as part of the main progression of the project.

have once more caught up all the nav links. trying to do it every week or so, since i figure that's a reasonable frequency.

by the way, PLEASE tell me if i fuck them up somewhere. short of regularly checking every single one manually (please god no) i don't really have an easy way to tell if I've missed or misdirected one somewhere, so y'all telling me if you notice anything not working right would be SO appreciated.

the level of minutiae involved in this project is genuinely insane, you have no idea how absurd the backend of this looks. i'm absolutely enough of a perfectionist to try and make this entire thing work properly and hold together all on my own.

nonetheless, it's inevitable that eventually something is going to slip through a crack somewhere, whether that's me getting something wrong about the game itself or missing a link somewhere, and anyone who's willing to point stuff like that out when they spot it so i can fix it WILL receive my eternal gratitude.

anyway, isn't it cool how we've finally hit the start of the real game? i think it's cool. working on finishing up the snowdin masterlist so i can get it up. i think trying to do those a region in advance should be a good amount of leeway, since they take a few days to really fill out properly.

well. the version you see i could probably do in a day, but on my end there's some extra stuff i do to keep everything organized and separate main content from bonus stuff, which makes it a bit more complicated. i also like to make sure i've completed each region on the "official" playthrough associated with the project so i can catch any weird progression stuff not shown in the maps that i might have forgotten about over the years.

it's funny, but actually doing the art is probably the least time consuming aspect of this... it's making sure everything is in order and set up in a way that won't become a nightmare for future me that ends up being the complicated part.

One of my favorite quotes in the whole game, honestly. A hint for a puzzle you never actually get to solve and simultaneously a beautiful piece of foreshadowing for the rest of the game.

First one: You know how almost all of the intro had drawings I did during one specific outing at a restaurant with my dad? This is another one of those. I didn't draw a ton of stuff other than the intro in that batch, but there were still a few!

Second one: In the far future of this project when I've finished all the rooms and started working on all dialogue and other such things, this will probably be moved to a separate post. For now, I'm just lumping everything that happens in a given room together for simplicity. This project is complicated enough as-is, so no point making it harder on myself than it needs to be.

Day 19 of recreating the entirety of Undertale via fanart:

Ruins - Entrance (room_ruins1)

Originally drawn: January 26th, 2026.

The version of this I posted on my art blog actually has text in it, but it's Chara monologuing about one of the things that justifies "Chara is their own warning" being an ao3 tag that sees frequent use, so I figured I'd leave that to the people curious enough to check out the original version despite the warning rather than just throwing it at y'all out of the blue.

(Though as of writing this the other version is still in the queue, so I'll have to come back and add that once it's up. You guys don't just see my old stuff, you also see some stuff in advance!)

The way the navigation for this project is set up (and the fact that the further in I get, the more stuff I'll be adding out of order) means anyone with filtered tags basically has to click through anyway to see the rest of the project, so I'm going to try to at least keep common triggers under a cut, if nothing else.

(The cut won't show if you're using the navigation, of course, but anything under a cut also goes under the navigation options, so while it's not a perfect solution, if you click through on one of these that has a tag you're filtering try and just not scroll down past those.)

…Huh. I've seriously never used this room for a comic? Weird.

Anyway, this is my favorite room in the game. Absolutely love it. Hence why I've independently decided to draw it 9 separate times even without needing it for a comic, many of which were before even the original iteration of this project from 2025.

Only one of the extras I have commentary on is the first one, about which I have two things to say:

1: AUGHHHHH IT'S A MISQUOTE ARGH ERGH AUGH AUGH I CAN'T BELIEVE I WOULD MAKE SUCH AN ERROR. SUCH AN INCONCEIVABLE MISTAKE. THEY'RE GOING TO MAKE ME HAND IN MY SUPERFAN CREDENTIALS AND HIT ME WITH HAMMERS, ETC.

(Actual quote is "The shadow of the ruins looms above, filling you with determination." Though I'm going to choose to focus entirely on the wording and ignore the capitalization because I don't care what Toby wrote, I will keep flipflopping between "The Ruins", "the Ruins", and "The RUINS" until I die. And also it's not consistent in-game either.)

2. This piece is set in a soulless pacifist run, which is why the colors are Like That.

This is an older piece, but I'm fond of it. Plus all the more recent pieces include Flowey dialogue and after counting up the total, I'm going to split that off for a future bonus post to stay under the image limit.

Augh ergh argh etc. Thankfully the issue of literally having too many pieces to fit in a single post without using reblogs (and therefore losing the ability to edit stuff) shouldn't come up again past this room outside of major bossfights, which are easy enough to deal with for my purposes.

I'll come back and post the drawings with dialogue when I start posting bonuses after I finish the Ruins. The main objective for this project at the moment is just to get through all the rooms, so I'm trying to be efficient about it for now. I can always go back and add stuff later once I have that basic skeleton in place, you know?

Anyway, I don't have any specific commentary on any of the extra pieces. Definitely noticeable how much I love sticking Chara in any scene where someone they used to know is present to angst about, though.
