Oh, I mean people looking to start again. Usually, people are moving out of Wind Gap, not into it. Especially since the jobs dried up when the factory went under.
You know a lot about this town for being so young, huh?
eviebrennan:
Oh I would love to see the fuckers try. Besides it seems like theyâd have to burn you with me, youâve got quite the foul mouth as well.
This town already wants to burn me down for more reasons than just my language.
So does this town even celebrate Halloween by doing fun things? Or are we all just expected to pray over those kids that chant curses in exchange for candy?
ââŠThereâs a group of kids that chant curses? Thatâs a new one.â
Maybe you just havenât noticed them inside your small bubble of a town, but out in the real world, thereâs all sorts of people.
Wind Gap being the town that it is, Iâm sure thereâs some kids who chant spells or whatever on Halloween night, but Iâve never met any. Sorry.
I guess I can forgive you.
Most of the kids have a normal Halloween - you know, candy, cute costumes, trick-or-treating, that kind of stuff - but most of the adults think itâs sinful or whatever.
I wasnât asking about the ânormalâ kids. I couldnât care any less about the kids that go trick-or-treating and then go home to pray so Satan doesnât think theyâre converting. Iâm asking about the others.
I guess I can see your point. Weâve had a recent influx of people like you, I guess you could say.
Kids like telling ghost stories, I guess. Wind Gap does have a surprising amount of murder for a town our size.
People like me?
eviebrennan:
Carving pumpkins and gorging yourself on candies isnât exactly the most fun anyway. You can do just that any fucking day.
Oh my, what a live cracker. Donât let the purists in town hear you using such fucking language, young lady. Theyâll burn you at the stake.
skin care is so much more important than boys
Usually, I head out to the cornfield under the cover of darkness, and sacrifice to ensure a good harvest for the next year.
Iâm kidding, of course. Youâd be surprised at how many people in this town take things like that seriously. Joking aside, what brings you to Wind Gap? Besides your herbal remedy shop thing.
Oh yeah? Be sure to come by to grab me before you head off on your own.
Itâs just another stop in the road, you know? A place to make money and itâs interesting what children dream up about curses or your Southern and Midwestern gothic.

darbyandken:
Iâm sorry, were you saying something?
I was wondering if you were going to stare at my plants all day or if you were planning on buying something.
Hope had already taken her dosage for the day, and being out and about â under the rays of the sun rather than caged within the fluorescent lights of the school hallways â was only amplifying the effects of the poison.Â
Her walk down Main Street was being spent in a complete and utter daze, her sense of equilibrium walking a dangerous precipice. So, naturally, when she crashed into someone, she found herself hitting the concrete rather quickly, scraping her forearm in the process.Â
After letting out a squeal, she scrambled to collect herself ( it was unbecoming, after all ), though the throbbing from her injury served as a decent distraction.Â
âIâm sâsorry. I didnât mean to â are you alright?â
Hollis had been sketching a new plant when suddenly, her pencil slipped and she made a harsh line down the middle of the paper. âGoddamn it,â she muttered aloud, somewhat frustrated that she had been this close to completing her rendering so carefully.
At the sound of the small, mouse-like voice, the young woman looked up to see an even more mouse-like face. The girl was only just a child and Hollis regretted her curse, helping the younger back up and onto her feet.
âIâm fine, Iâm fine. Are you sure youâre okay?â She asked instead, tucking the thread bookmark back into her notebook pages and stepped back to examine the other.
