just went to Oz Comic Con as Elphaba!
So, I just finished a great day at Comic con where I went as Elphaba with a closet cosplay I threw together in an hour or two, and it was super fun! I’ve never had so many people ask me for photos!

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
More people need to realise this
So I'm working on a Wizard of Oz/Wicked fic, and I was planning on following the journey as it is in the original books, and, before meeting the Scarecrow, Dorothy actually stays the night at the original Boqs house, although he's very different to his Wicked counterpart, and in the fic I thought it would be fun to switch that with Nick Chopper, the original Tin Woodman, but by god, reading Boqs name in my copy of the OG Wizard of Oz just makes me laugh becuase I think of him as his Wicked version, and it pulld me out of the story so much I can barely even read it lmao

So, my Wicked hyperfixation lead me to rewatching the kids TV show Lost in Oz because from what I could remember I figured it would work well for a fandom fusion of the two (it needed some tweaking but it does, I’ve already written the first chapter/episode), and because my Wicked fixation was an evolved form of a hyperfixation with the original Oz books, I picked up on so many references in the show it was insane, I even had to pause at one point because of a throwaway line referencing Tip/Ozma apparently dying or getting kidnapped or something, like what? (Maybe I could write a Fic about that sometime in the future, IDK) but what I’m trying to say is it was insane how much they referenced the OG books.
All that being said, I do have two things about the show that I need to rant about, but this is all said with appreciation for the show, they’re just my personal nitpicks:
First, WHY did they make the Patchwork Girl a guy? He doesn’t even rhyme or anything! Like he’d a fun character and I like him as a stand-alone, but that is not my Scraps.
And Second: WHERE THE HELL IS THE TIN WOODSMAN?!? Like he’s referenced as a comic book character but he literally NEVER shows up as an actual character in the show, even though we get the Scarecrow in the third episode, and the Cowardly Lion in the second! And we know he exists, since Lost in Oz canonically tells the story of the original Dorothy’s Great Grandaughter! (So obviously the Lion isn’t the OG Lion, but he has the spirit)
Anyway, I do love the show, those are just some of my personal issues with it, they don’t ruin the show as a whole and I do suggest you watch it! Also in my Wicked crossover Fic (unpublished as of now, but if I do share it, it’s called Wickedly Lost in Oz) I remedy these issues, and use them to make references to Wicked as well (Scraps gets a minor crush on Fiyero as a reference to how in the OG books Scraps and Scarecrow are a couple, and the Tin Woodsman is actually Boqs Great Great Uncle, because I can)

Oh this is a common scam I find at work. Any file that:
isn't jpg, jpeg, pdf, or png
Is a file extension you don't recognise (this one is a visual basic file, used for scripting, but others like exe or bat are used)
has a very low or unexpected file size (this one's is less than 1KB, or 0.001MB, a good reference should be at least 500KB)
Is likely a scam. Stay safe kids.

I know I keep sharing random snippets from my Wicked reaction Fic, but I can’t help it, they’re just so interesting! What was intended to be just a reference to how the original broadway actors for Elphaba and Glinda appear in Wicked ended up with the three farmhands getting so close, yet so far from figuring out what happens to Fiyero and Boq:
The two female performers sing about how the prophecy had been fulfilled, slowly making their way over to Elphaba and Glinda, pulling them into the performance.
Hunk squinted at the two female performers;
“Is it just me or do they seem really similar to Glinda and Elphaba somehow?” He thought aloud
“No, it’s almost uncanny, it’s like they’re counterparts even though they’re also in Oz” Hickory agreed
“Maybe it’s possible for such counterparts to exist, I mean, you two have noticed how similar you both are to Fiyero and Boq, even though we know your counterparts are the Scarecrow and Tin Man, perhaps you have multiple?”
“Fiyero picked up on that when we were talking earlier, perhaps we are their counterparts as well” Hunk agreed,
“That would mean they also have counterparts in the constructs too, right?” Hickory noted
“I suppose they would, it does fit pretty well, they are surprisingly similar to them” Zeke considered
“Does that mean I also have a human counterpart in Oz somewhere?” Brr cut in from where he had been sitting beside Zeke
“You could” His counterpart suggested.
