I just realized something so incredibly obvious and now i feel really stupid:

Ok last post for the night on this and im done, but like Christopher Nolan trying to make a ~serious~ film adaptation and accidentally made the funniest shit I've seen in a while mixed in with some really good horror elements.

The scenes with circe were disgusting and had a type of body horror that I found really neat to watch. The cyclops design was cool and the way that it moved freaked me out. I think that those were the strongest parts of his film and I really wish that he leaned in more to elements like that! He could've done something interesting with the lotus eaters instead of just having it be Odysseus and should've kept Calypso as a god and tried to make her feel otherworldly or unsettling in some way instead of just woman one the beach, she could've been more controlling, rather than just kinda awkwardly handing him lotus flowers and asking about his dead coworkers! Could've made the sirens look more monstrous and had a scene of them eating that guy who jumped overboard as odyssey looks on in longing and pain! Could've had more about Iphigeneia and actually made her the correct age range instead of like 4 like they did in the movie and had the wedding plot be Odysseus idea in order to show his cunning and brutal nature and show some of that in flashbacks as Odysseus thinks on his past in regret, since Nolan likes having him do that so much.

Idk the movie was 3 hours long and surely some of that time could've been used better

watched The Odyssey (2026) and i have to admit, in an otherwise very serious scene, i was fucking cackling when the gates of Troy opened and Agamemnon was just fucking stood there aurafarming like Darth Vader

Honestly I feel the same way about the odyssey 2026 that I do about epic: the musical and a lot of other media involving Greek myths like percy Jackson. Or hell, just other media adapting things i love in general, like Spider-man. I know that they're not the most accurate and do have quite a few gripes with some of the things they did or didn't do and can and will go on long tangents about the problems I have with them and can understand if those problems ruin them for others, but at the end of the day I did enjoy consuming them and thought they were fun.

This won't stop me from meticulously picking apart my problems with these things though, because I also have fun bitching about things, but I do understand if others don't like criticism directed towards things they love because they dont find joy in criticism like i do.

Me, after getting caught trying to sneak an entire rotisserie chicken into a showing of Christopher Nolan's 2026 The Odyssey: Wow, you know a lot of people wouldn't have seen me do that? You have wise eyes. Athena's eyes.

I guess you could say that I'm a lot like Odysseus. I too left troy with spoils of war ( bought a large soda, nachos, and popcorn at the concession stand) but found myself tormented by a Trojan horse of my own design (the nachos and popcorn gave me a stomach ache) and many a time i narrowly avoided having my guts spilled (i almost vomited in the movie theater) went on a long laborious journey (3 hour Christopher Nolan movie) listened to a sirens song and lived ( didn't leave to go the bathroom) avoided a watery death at poseidons hand (almost pissed all over a movie theater seat) but we both made it home just in time to defeat the suitors and save our family (didn't embarrass myself and disgrace my family by peeing my pants at the age of 23 in a public place) and saw the love of our life once again ( dicked around at five and below for like an hour after the movie was over) I guess I just get Odysseus in ways that no one else can
