This is a sideblog for universal-huntsman.

Do you want to learn about the unicronians? Well you've come to the right place! (But please keep in mind that this blog is HEAVILY headcannon based since there's not alot of information about them-)

Now recently, I decided to create a notebook archive about the unicronians in my au. (that I still need a name for btw) This handwritten notebook will contain data and information about the unicronians through the first person optics of a mystery explorer who wants to learn more about them, how they function, and their lifestyles.

Along their journey, this mystery explorer will uncover the secrets of the unicronians to see if those old legends about them ring true, or if they are really just myths. So find a comfortable spot and we'll begin this treacherous journey into unicrons deepest and darkest depths

Also, expect slow updates, with spring coming i won't have much time to work on this project unfortunately :/ but I will work on it when I have the time!

"Both cyclonus and scourge take orders under the command of a purple horned bot known as galvatron. It's been rumored that unicrons direct influence on his mind has driven him into insanity. This insanity mixed with his incredible strength, and the fact that he's impervious to nearly all attacks is a recipe for disaster. Galvatron has been a problem for a while now because of it, and what's worse, is that he can easily disintegrate his foes with the large orange weapon on his arm. Few survive encountering him, and if he still had some sanity left? Well, I fear he'd be even worse."

"Galvatron's origins are currently unknown, but since unicron has multiverse traveling abilities, it wouldn't be surprising if unicron plucked him from a previously consumed universe. Then again, unicron has made deals with 'lesser beings' in the past, so that too is an option to consider."

"Those who are desperate for power often turn to unicron to get it, and the bots who make deals with him are often warped beyond recognition in both mind and body. However, I am curious to know if the bots he made deals with still remember their previous identities or if unicron wipes them completely in the process, removing everything they once were and turning them into nothing more than a husk for his personal use."

"It's also possible that unicron might keep his new servants memories and personality in tact, finding amusement as the bot slowly begins to realize they're in over their helm and trapped in a deal they can't escape from. This is one of the reasons why unicron is so dangerous. Once you made a deal with him you are forever bound to his service and he makes sure of that too. Even in death the dark energon he feeds his heralds with turns their lifeless shell into a zombie like state, ensuring they keep serving him even when they are long gone."

"I've been searching for more information in the archives and it seems we have more information about them than i had previously thought. While not surprising, it is likely due to them being the most common unicronian to encounter. Because of this, it should be no surprise that some of them have been captured and studied in captivity. Of course no bot I know seems to care about their well-being, which is honestly understandable considering what they are. But, I will admit a lot of progress has been made because of that research, it's just a shame most of that information is top secret and only shared with specialized unicronian hunters."

"Now, unlike those top secret files, I won't sugarcoat anything within this book, so most of the information in here may be disturbing to some, and such is the nature of the next fact."

"Aside from hunting and killing their prey, The sweeps have also been observed savagely ripping apart and cannibalizing other bots they have hunted, which leads me to believe that they could have a ravenous appetite not unlike their master. This behavior is concerning of course, but it is good to know in advance."

"What makes the sweeps so dangerous is that they really take the term 'strength in numbers' to the extreme. If you happen to spot one of them, chances are there are more around nearby, and maybe even closer than you realize. These skilled hunters have the uncanny ability to sneak up on their prey, often appearing behind them with little to no warning before taking the kill."

"But what if i told you there is an even stronger member of the sweeps out there? One that puts all of them to shame? If you are unlucky enough to find yourself around a large group of sweeps, there is a chance you might spot a unique member among the swarm who appears to be significantly darker in color. This unique sweep is none other than scourge, their leader, and naturally the most dangerous one to encounter. After the sweeps have done their part in a hunt, scourge moves in to finish the job."

"Scourge usually works alone, commanding his sweeps and hunting down notable threats perceived by unicron, but on occasion, this hunter is spotted being accompanied by another member of unicrons ranks. A formidable warrior known as cyclonus. He is incredibly skilled and fiercely loyal to one of unicrons most powerful heralds."

"I'll start off my notes with a fact. If you are facing a unicronian in battle, you may quickly learn that your weapon may be ineffective. That is because unicronians have much thicker and denser armor than an average cybertronian. Standard weapons simply will not work against them, however, heavy armor piercing weaponry has had more success. This is something I would like to explore, if I can do so in a safe manner, which is unfortunately unlikely"

"The next most commonly known piece of information is about the sweeps, unicrons deadliest trackers. Apparently it's been said that these master huntsmen can seek out anything and anyone, finding their prey in record time. Their sensitive scanners can pick up even the most miniscule of clues, and they go off of those to hunt them down. It is impressive, unless of course, you're the on they happen to be after."

minor idea while the Peeps are still on my mind but Sweeps making nests. Supposedly relatively practical, pretty protective, pretty compact, you stick all your most valuable trinkets and weapons in the inner wall to keep them safe. also the loafing opportunities are limitless. and the cuddling possibilities. sweeeep nests. :3

In the au (I desperately need a name for this thing) the purebred sweeps do have housing establishments. Even if their buildings aren't as visually aesthetic as the cyclonus establishments of cybris, they're still effective against wild beast attacks if one does manage to find its way into the cave system. The sweeps likely have berths like cybertronians, but could still nest as a comfort or instinctual thing, especially when they're carrying, or close to laying eggs.

The newly hatched ones would likely stay in the nest until they can move properly or manage to get out on their own

I could see permanent nests being a lot more popular amongst the silent killer breed, especially because they live on the surface instead of underground with the purebreds. They're a lot more feral and live up on the sides of mountains so they'd nest on cliffs or overhangs, using bones and Armored parts from their hunts to build those nests. Since they're also the only sweeps who can fly without extensive wing modifications, it makes sense for them to nest higher so that the beasts can't reach them.

It's also common for families or packs of sweeps to huddle together to sleep because it gets colder where they live. They're farther away from unicrons core so they get less heat.

Also you bringing up pigeons earlier reminded me of this meme and I had to draw it because it makes so much sense

Cyclonuses would be perfectionists when it comes to making nests, they just cant have anything out of place

Then you have sweep nests-

I'd imagine cyclonuses with sweep partners would argue a lot over nest building, especially if the sweep knocks something out of place by accident

Imagine entering a cave thats seemingly vacant and eerily quiet until you look up and see hundreds of glowing red lights above you. You freeze and the sweeps anxiously wait for you to move, to run. Even the slightest movement is enough to set them off and within seconds they all detach and swarm you

Hear me out:

Cyclonuses having very well hidden retractable claws that very few bots know about. The cyclonuses would mainly use them when they had to as a surprise attack or last resort if disarmed

And Sweeps with small barbs on their tongues/glossa like cats. Sandpaper feeling licks that can easily ruin paint finishes and grip onto internal wiring for easier feasting and getting into those hard to reach areas when preening/grooming eachother

all i'm hearing is cat unicronians! cat unicronians! cat unicro

anyhoo hearing you out because of course they would; unicron would gear them up with as many tricks up their metaphorical sleeves as he could (which garners the question of where he heard of so many organic features when he's a giant space robot thing but that's a question for another day.) I'd also imagine the cyclonus retractable claws are also a different color/material from their normal fingertips, something far denser but not sustainable for full-frame makeup. Tungsten or osmium or something. So they also get their fancy hidden nails :3

I dunno how I feel about preening, but hard agree on Sweep barbed tongue for eating people business. Though I would never be biased about people eater Sweeps in any way, shape or form. It's also total nightmare fuel! Peer into the mouth of your enemy and see that they have tongue-teeth-things specifically for dealing yet more damage! I'd run the other direction.

And expanding on that: getting bit by Sweeps runs the risk of serious infection! Maybe not as serious as cosmic rust, but some sort of Unicronian corrosive agent is present in their bites as a way to help break down bodies to eat that, when in contact with exposed circuitry/living-metal, crystallizes into brittle shards that does even more irreparable damage short of cutting out the affected areas altogether and replacing all the components. If left untreated, that corrosive agent will permeate and spread from wound to surrounding living-metal and your frame will crumble like sand. ouch.

(Please keep your Sweeps as indoor pets, people, they often endanger the local Cybertronian population if they get out of their designated habitats.)

Omg I like the idea of corrosive sweep bites so much. It reminds me of komodo dragons and how their bites give their prey nasty infections. I'd also imagine the unicronians don't have the best oral hygiene (if at all) so they'd Definitely have some nasty diseases in there. Not to mention they eat dark energon when not eating other bots, so if they just ate and bite someone the victim could be infected by that too!

This also gives me the idea that the sweeps either have naturally special teeth for shredding or they'd sharpen their teeth themselves to be more deadly. If they had to sharpen their teeth themselves, then it could be like a ritual for them when they come of age, signaling they are ready to hunt and join a pack.

A while ago I did think about giving the unicronians venom of some kind, but I did away with the idea because I didn't think it would fit.

The idea you have for their bites kinda reminds me of necrosis with how it kills the surrounding area and the only solution for it is amputation. Perhaps it could be a cybertronian equivalent of that?

Also FUCK YES do they purr! It would be more of their engines idling creating the noise, but the effect is still there. I'd imagine a single sweep would not be too loud, just a low continuous rumble. A lot of them purring together in a pile though? Oh boy they're gonna be noisy especially in a cave. Cyclonus purrs would be a lot louder because of their more powerful engines

Sweeps would be interesting pets honestly, me and a friend joke about 'domestic' sweeps often and the idea is silly

cyclonus and sweep flavors

in my au there are multiple different frame types or 'breeds' for cyclonus and the sweeps and each 'breed' is made for different things.

cyclonus flavors

the purebred

As cyclonus as you can get.

These cyclonuses are what you'd expect when you think of them. They are the standard cyclonus model/frame and are the most common next to the drones. They are basically the equivalent of a 'pure bred' and they look the most like the original cyclonus aside from varying colors and paint patterning. Many of them, especially the younger ones, paint different parts of their frames to be different colors in order to stand out more against an otherwise uniform crowd.

This type of cyclonus is made for speed and agility, having slender or lanky bodies, very long and sturdy legs and a sleek alt mode that can out speed almost anything. They are also the tallest type of cyclonus, standing around 35-40ft on average.

the wall

These cyclonuses are far more defensive then the standard frame and have a lot more armor and mass. They are bulkier and much slower than average, but theyre built for defense and can withstand heavy hitting blows with minimal damage. They are uncommon and are usually sent out to face more difficult and hard hitting enemies. They stand around 30-35ft on average, trading in their height for defense.

the hybrid

the rarest type of cyclonus are the hybrids, crosses between standard frames and defensive ones. They are all rounders who can tank hits while still retaining their Agility and speed. They are the most dangerous of the cyclonuses to come across because of their versatile nature and are well respected amongst their community. They stand around 35-40ft on average with a few rare cases of larger specimens reaching up to 50ft being spotted.

The drone

The drones look like the standard cyclonus frame type but with fewer body details. They are the smallest and weakest type of cyclonus but they make up for it with their numbers. They are usually seen accompanying other cyclonuses in groups of 2 or 3. They stand around 25-30ft on average.

Sweep flavors

The purebred

The most common breed of sweep. They are efficient hunters and have good all round offensive and defensive capabilities. They are dangerous to come across and are usually seen in large packs of up to 7 or 10 individuals. This breed of sweep cannot fly with their own wings, they are too heavy and stiff for that, however they can use them as an effective shield to block attacks.

These sweeps tend to prefer long range weapons over close range combat but they are just as deadly up close as they are from far away. They are pack hunters and like to tease and toy with their prey, wearing them down with strategic maneuvers until they can't fight back. The pack leader then moves in for the killing blow.

They stand around 20-25ft on average

The silent killer

preferring Stealth and speed over direct confrontation, these common hunters have adapted to be the silent assassins of the sweeps. They have slender frames for light feet, speed and agility and long wings for flight. Their pedes are padded to muffle movements to more effectively stalk their prey, waiting for the right moment to strike. They are also the most savage and feral type of sweep, swarming prey and tearing them apart.

They are equipped with the longest claws of any sweep breed and prefer to use them over guns. They have amazing night and infrared vision and can track their prey through even the most treacherous and darkest of caves and landscapes. These sweeps are mostly seen on the surface of unicron, circling the sky above and lining mountains like vultures. They stand around 25-30ft on average.

The tank

the most defensive and arguably the strongest breed of sweep. This rare breed prefers up close and personal combat and like tearing their prey apart piece by piece over using weapons. They are solitary hunters and prefer going after more dangerous hunts than other sweeps do.

Their armor is thick, durable, and they are the most difficult to take down in one in one combat. They are slower than average sweeps but their strength and defense make them formidable enemies.

Just like the purebred sweeps, they also cannot fly using their wings, they are simply too heavy, but they can also use them like a shield. These sweeps stand around 20-25ft

the pursuer

a rare breed. These sweeps are master pursuit hunters. Once they injure their prey or find a target to hunt they will chase them to the end of the universe and won't stop until they have their prize.

While they're not as defensive or agile as other sweeps, they hunt through other effective methods, preferring to injure and weaken from a distance. These sweeps can either be solitary or form small packs of 3 or 5. They are almost always on the move and are made for long distance traveling, so seeing one on unicron for any amount of time is rare.

Because of their long distance capabilities, unicron sends these sweeps across the universe to take out enemies and threats. They stand around 25-30ft

Does Deathbringer have any control over his horns movements or do they just do whatever they want based on his emotions?

I should make an expression sheet for him, he has a few wacky ones!

deathbringers horns respond to his emotions naturally by default, but he can also move them independently if he wants to. However, when he first got them he didn't even realize he could emote with them until sweepy pointed it out.

What is an unusual trait Deathbringer has?

In terms of physical traits, Deathbringer has a set of wing extensions that were leftover parts from his initial creation. He doesn't really like them because of his body dysphoria, but he keeps them around anyway because they have been incredibly useful to him in the past. This is also the same reason why he still has his sweep claws.

In terms of other traits, he sometimes exhibits sweep behaviors unknowingly, and his horns can also move to express emotions unlike Cyclonus's horns which are static.

Give us a lighthearted/silly headcanon about Sweepy

Sweepy is pretty evil, but he still cares deeply for the other sweeps in all his verses. The most prominent version of this is in his main one and in idw. Even after he becomes the new scourge and frees them from galvatrons rule (in his main verse), he helps them out however he can and often spends time with his huntsmen. He has carried one of them back to unicron after injury, he has offered a hand to help them up, and he has protected them fiercely.

If you want to stay on sweepys good side, do not mess with his sweeps

Scourge prefers to deliver the killing blow after a hunt.

Like a pack of animals, his sweeps will relentlessly track down their prey and injure them, wearing them down and making them weak. Then scourge moves in to finish the job and he relishes the moment, enjoying every second as he watches the light leave his preys eyes

Muse Scent Headcannons

Ever wondered what my muses smell like? Well now you can find out!

sweepy

Main verse: Sweepy reeks of dark energon and his Unicron's essence because of the raw dark energon crystals on his tail, and from living on Unicron's surface for so long. The stench of dark energon becomes most noticeable after he fires the crystals or makes new ones because of the bleeding. The smell gradually goes away over time, but it's still quite strong to non-unicronians. Aside from that, he also has musty cave or a smoky odor about him depending on what part of unicron he's recently been on.

After he becomes scourge, sweepy gets a deep clean and is forced to take regular baths by cyclonus and his clones.

G1: sweepy smells of lake or salty sea water along with hints of iron or metal. He spends most of his time on Earth by the sea in G1 when he's not in Unicron's head, so he has more earthly scents. Not to mention he likes fishing for food and sometimes ends up in the water.

Dreamwave: He smells heavily of dark energon, only now it's mixed with other metallic and mineral smells from hunting the planet's native beasts and getting their blood on his plating. He also has a slight musty/rainy, or salty smell due to the planet he lives on where rain is very common.

Idw: he smells like stale energon and musk with hints of dust, ash, or smoke.

Deathbringer

Due to his 'superior' cyclonus mindset, Deathbringer is a lot cleaner and neater than Sweepy is, taking better care of his frame. While he doesn't have access to exquisite or fine waxes or polishes, he makes do with what he has and often smells like a freshly cleaned car. Sometimes he will smell of mixed or stale energon from battles, but it usually doesn't last long before he is clean again

Scourge most often smells like battle and energon with hints of ash and smoke from spending his time on chaar. On occasion, there will be a lingering scent of nail polish around him.

What are things other that loud noises that can scare your muses?

Sweepy is secretly afraid of Galvatron in his main and G1 verses. He will fight Cyclonus, Scourge, and even the Autobots leader alone, but he will not go anywhere near Galvatron if he doesn't have to.

Scourge is not particularly afraid of loud noises, but he does hate them. He isn't afraid of much, and if he is, then his arrogance won't allow him to show it. However, due to his hunter's instincts, he is more cautious with the unknown or things he doesn't understand.

Deathbringer is similar to Scourge with not having many fears, but instead of being overly cautious he will attack the things he doesn't understand.

despite being more like cyclonus now, deathbringer used to be way different when he was first created, being more sweep like. This is ironic when you consider the fact that deathbringer saw the sweeps as expendable and often abused or culled them when they failed or made a mistake. When deathbringer first met cyclonus he idolized him for his perfect body and strength and tried to join him, but Cyclonus didn't like him, finding deathbringer to be too different, an amalgamation of spare parts thrown together by unicron. Back then deathbringer had a lot more sweep aspects and cyclonus viewed him as a blemish to his name despite the fact that deathbringer thought more like cyclonus than a sweep, but he found deathbringers eagerness amusing so he began to manipulate him. The more time cyclonus spent around him, the more he noticed deathbringers desperation to be like him. He confronted deathbringer about it one day and said he would never be like him and that he was no better than a lowly sweep. It was quite the blow to deathbringers ego, especially because he was supposed to be better than the sweeps in every way. Deathbringer began to resent his sweep frame because of cyclonus and developed a bad case of body disphoria because of it. He tried desperately to replace those parts of himself, and has even resorted to cannibalizing freshly forged cyclonus drones to satisfy his need for perfection, replacing a large majority of his frame by himself in secret.

Deathbringer is constantly at war with himself due to his two halves. He wants to be perfect like cyclonus but his sweep half simply won't allow it. He is baaically a cyclonus stuck inside a sweeps body.

Instead of being 80% cyclonus and 20% sweep like he is now, deathbringer used to be more along the lines of 70% sweep and 30% cyclonus

Unicronian headcannons

(More will be added later!)

All Unicronians have or develop a red spark due to Unicron's corruption.

Any items that have Primus essence, like the matrix or the Prime's artifacts, can harm unicronians if they try to use them or stay in contact with them for too long. That is because Unicron and Primus essences do not mix well and have bad reactions when they come into contact with eachother.

The sweeps and other unicronians have a ravenous appetite just like the one who created them. They prefer the taste of living metal or the cybertronian equivalent of meat, and will eat anything or anyone when they get hungry, sometimes even resorting to cannibalism. They leave behind very little remains in their wake, only stopping the feast when their tanks are stuffed and they can't eat anymore.

The sweeps are pack hunters and are most often seen in groups of 3 or more. They value the presence of their own kind and will sometimes assist or protect injured sweeps.

Because of this pack-bonding nature, the sweeps sleep in close proximity to each other, sometimes even making a small sleeping pile. Most of them snore and purr when they sleep, but it's a guarantee that someone will always end up with a foot or hand in their face by morning.

The sweeps don't sleep in the same position, with some individuals preferring different or more wild sleep positions

On Unicron's surface, there are places where dark energon gathers in pools or lakes. Unicronians gather at these pools often to feed on his blood for sustenance.

Dark energon equivalents of energon treats and popsicles do exist and they are considered a rare delicacy.

Unicronians possess thicker and more durable armor than their Cybertronian counterparts, making them difficult to deal with or harm.

The Sweeps rank lower than Cyclonus in the Unicronian hierarchy, often being seen as nothing more than vicious scouts and lowly hunters when compared to the likes of Cyclonus.

In sweep society, their facial hair and claws are like status symbols. The sweeps who have the longest or best-looking claws and facial hair are looked up to and are seen as more aristocratic compared to those who have damaged/short claws or messy facial hair.

Sweeps claws rarely go dull regardless of use, but manicures and regular maintenance are still mandatory. Many sweeps like to paint their claws with their enemies' energon after dispatching their prey.

Unlike cybertronian facial hair that is magnetic, sweep facial hair is permanent. They keep it well-groomed, cleaning their mustaches and beards often, especially after messy meals.

Sweeps who have partners will often groom eachother to show affection, painting each other's claws and tidying the other's beard or mustache up when needed.

Sweep facial hair is made up of millions of very thin wire strands. These strands never stop growing and need to be trimmed regularly (about once a week for average/standard length)

Shaving is seen as a punishment. If you see a clean-shaven sweep he likely did something bad.
