seeing posts about the new Phineas and Ferb season reminds me of when I was like nine and didn’t know fanfiction existed and wrote an entire physical three page story about Isabella getting salmonella and fucking dying and Phineas crying and having a panic attack and I remember showing it to my mom like “I can’t tell if it’s better to make her die or make her hospitalized” (I made her die)

OK JUST TO ADD TO THIS! Ferb having a crush on Vanessa is fine! It’s similar to Dipper’s crush on Wendy in Gravity Falls (which, spoilers, is handled quite well). Vanessa reciprocating said crush and them dating when Ferb is fresh out of high school is what I hate.

Plus, even though in the context of canon Ferb having a crush on Vanessa is fine, the mere presence of that crush at all means people will ship it. Even if Vanessa had never reciprocated, people would still ship Ferbnessa (judging from similar situations with other Disney TVA shows 🥲🥲). I think they should’ve given Ferb another love interest to fawn over who’s the same age as him, or maybe just a year older. ESPECIALLY since they didn’t close that plot line in a way that would be helpful and healthy to any young viewers in a similar scenario.
