Protest Song Posting:
Ohio
By Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Because we all need to be familiar with the classics.
Lyrics:
[Chorus]
Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin'
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drummin'
Four dead in Ohio
[Verse]
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew her and
Found her dead on the ground?
How can you run when you know?
[Chorus]
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
[Verse]
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew her and
Found her dead on the ground?
How can you run when you know?
[Chorus]
Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin'
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drummin'
Four dead in Ohio
[Outro]
Four dead in Ohio (Whoa!)
Four dead in Ohio (four)
Four dead in Ohio (Ah!)
Four dead in Ohio (How many more?)
Four dead in Ohio (What?)
Four dead in Ohio (Oh!)
Four dead in Ohio (Oh!)
Four dead in Ohio (What?)
Four dead in Ohio (Ah)
Four dead in Ohio

Info:
Ohio was written in the wake of the Kent State Massacre.
On May 4th, 1970, National Guard troops deployed to the Kent State campus in Ohio fired upon unarmed protesters, killing 4 people. Several of those murdered or injured that day were not protestors at all, but just students trying to cross campus on their way to class.
More info on the song can be found at: Wikipedia link here.
No kings, mama!
Which side are you on, mama? Which side are you on?
Got money for war but canât feed the poor, mama

One of the best ways to rally folks together is some good-old-fashioned protest music. Hereâs a classic to get us started:
Which Side Are You On?
By Pete Seeger
[Verse 1]
Come all of you good workers
Good news to you I'll tell
Of how the good ol' union
Has come in here to dwell
[Chorus]
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
[Verse 2]
My daddy was a miner
And I'm a miner's son
And I'll stick with the union
'Til every battle's won
Chorus]
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
[Verse 3]
They say in Harlan County
There are no neutrals there
You'll either be a union man
Or a thug for J. H. Blair
[Chorus]
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
[Verse 4]
Oh, workers can you stand it?
Oh, tell me how you can
Will you be a lousy scab
Or will you be a man?
[Chorus]
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
[Verse 5]
Don't scab for the bosses
Don't listen to their lies
Us poor folks haven't got a chance
Unless we organize
[Chorus]
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
(Originally written by Florence Reese in 1931 during the Harlan County War, a union struggle that set mine workers against private business and the state in Kentucky. Wikipedia article can be found here.)
I think we need to bring protest songs back into the public eye; itâs feeling like a very Pete Seeger kind of autumn, hummina hummina
Woah Mama: declaring war on an American city is Nazi behavior, hummina hummina
Woah Mama, it looks like someoneâs lying about being on the Epstein list!
Whoâs planning to attend the next No Kings protests in July, hummina hummina?
could i perchance get more info on these union elvis?
So I am regrettably not an Elvis impersonation account, but I *do* have some info on the next few protests.
July 4th:

"They want us scared, divided, alone. They donât want us to dream about freedom. But thatâs exactly what we have to do."
July 17th:
No Kings Protest: Good Trouble Lives On
On July 17, five years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, communities across the country will take to the streets, courthouses, an
A note to the âdOnâT tAlK aBoUt PrOtEsTs folks: While it is important to be aware that posting details of what protests you are attending can be used against you, it is vital to share this sort of thing and encourage others to attend online. Social media is our main way of organizing in 2025, and kneecapping ourselves out of fear will only hand fascism the win.
In summary:
Donât share personal details. Share your support.
Fight for your rights, Mama!
Whoâs planning to attend the next No Kings protests in July, hummina hummina?
Chinga la migra, Mama
Woah comrade, only if the proletariat can gain class consciousness and overthrow the bourgeois can we have freedom hummina hummina hummina
Class consciousness will set us free, hummina hummina
You have nothing to lose but your chains, Mama
Woah Mama, letâs get out there today and take a stand for our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!
Make sure to bring water with you while youâre standing against fascism today, hummina hummina
