Just wanted to put a plug in for one of my new fav websites, Can I Play That?, which focuses on accessbility reviews of video games by disabled gamers. As someone with a dexterity/mobility disability in my hands (carpal tunnel) I NEED games that allow easy and convenient ways to push buttons to do stuff and let me rebind keys at will. I’m now checking Can I Play That? before buying games since their reviews are ++. They include accessibility reviews for deaf/hard of hearing and cognitive disabiliies too.

As an relatively new indie game developer, one of the things that has always been at the forefront of my mind is accessibility in my games.
I'm trying to make games that I would enjoy playing, and therefore others would enjoy as well. However I don't want to limit who can and can't enjoy those games simply because I was negligent in my designs. I have a few things I have that I always plan to include in my games so far, but it's basically impossible for me to know all the potential ways to broaden accessibility without input from others. So far, I am implementing/keeping in mind:
• Color blindness
• Rebinding controls
• Variable audio levels
• Subtitles
• Dyslexia friendly fonts
• Difficulty modes
• Audio descriptions
and more that I'm not thinking of right now.
I would like input from other people on accessibility in games, especially from those who who may not be able to play a game/games due to a lack of accessibility.
Basically, what is something that has prevented you from fully enjoying or experiencing a game? And what's something that could have been done to fix this?
I have some input as a vision impaired person who sometimes plays games.
high contrast mode
being able to increase font and UI sizes
being able to disable flashy, distracting, bright visual effects (anything that might cause eye strain or a seizure)
being able to change the size & color of crosshairs or cursors
i hate quick time events because i can never see the key i need to press
mini maps are hard to see
That's all I can really think of.
My hands shake pretty badly so forgiving motion controls would be nice. There's nothing worse than enjoying a game and then there's a part with like a jump puzzle or a narrow bridge or a ledge with no rail and you fall to your doom while trying to move forward

Nothing has ever been the same since the collapse. The land and sky burned and after the chaos the survivors emerged into a world that they did not recognize.
