this was … too easy. then again, looker was dealing with a kid. a powerful kid, but a kid nonetheless. he had to keep this in mind during the confrontation. folding the newspaper shut and discarding it on the bench, looker watched his target disappear around the corner of a nearby alleyway, waiting a few minutes before continuing with the pursuit.
he placed his back against the brick wall just to the side of the alley entrance, pulling out a pager from his coat pocket, sending a quick update to his supervisor –
in pursuit with intent to engage with target!!!!!!!!!
hitting send and stuffing the pager back into his pocket, looker burled around and took a few careful steps into the alleyway before him, to the point of where the shining sun could no longer reach him. everything was going perfectly to plan, apart from …
❝ … he’s gone – ?!?! ❞ the agent cursed to himself, eyes frantically scanning the now empty alleyway. there was a dead end a few feet in front of him … impossible. ❝ hwah!! headquarters are going to make me a laughing stock … ! ❞ despite the obvious absence of his only lead, he couldn’t help but feel … watched.
From the safety of the light and bustling streets did the target, rending himself of his only true protection in blind pursuit of his target. A glaring error. The shadows were Silver’s domain, and were this a time when malice was more prominant in his heart, his restraint held with far less mastery, the cloaked figure babbling below him might be facing a much bigger problem than what the boy had in mind for the moment.
Silver almost felt bad for him.
“If you wanted my attention, you should have been more direct about it.”
The temperature took a sudden nosedive within the enclosed walls of the alley, rippling fractals of ice piecing creeping thinly across. Just enough privacy as to not draw attention to whatever came next. He exhaled, mist forming from the heat of his breath. It doesn’t bother him, it never had, but he had no intention of making it easy on his newest ‘companion’ by giving him less than a freezer’s chill. He really should have done his research beforehand.
Weavile was the first to appear from her place in the shadows, the wry smirk across her muzzle revealing the glint of her teeth in the dwindling light. From the opposite side emerged Silver, hands in his pockets as gleaming eyes appraised this foolhardy hunter in search of intent. He was ready for a fight if that was what he’d come for. He wouldn’t be the first.
