The Fall Trailer Iâm really excited to play this. You take on the role of an Artificially intelligent combat suit that activates when the pilot inside you crashes on an unknown planet falling unconscious. Your main imperative is to find medical aid for the pilot, but the limits on your functionality imposed by the laws of robotics become gameplay puzzles along the way. So if thereâs a corpse on the ground whose hand could be used to open a door with a fingerprint scanner, but your programming doesnât allow you to interfere with a human corpse, what do you do? Iâve been desperate for a good sci-fi game since I played the Swapper and it looks like this may be just what Iâve been waiting for.Â
The Fall Part 2: Unbound at Pax West. Met the devs, they are great people!
I should have known better not to get attach to an operator voice AI in this very short game where I question myself the entire time at how shady he was because heâs the typical funny nice guy companion that we can only hear voice and see his really really shady symbol and usually this kind of the only friend you got in the horror-ish game would be the kind that would stab you in the back but nooo he was the true cinnamon roll and I realized it a moment too late noooo

Basic mark-7 system access routed to A.R.I.D. AI. Primary objective: Save my pilot.
The Fall Review
The intriguing sci-fi thriller, âThe Fallâ, puts you into control of a high tech combat suit named âAridâ. The game starts abruptly with you crash landing from the sky not knowing anything about where you landed or your recent history, the only objective you have is saving your pilot inside the armor, by any meansâŠ
1.) Gameplay
The fall is a puzzle action game that gets it right for the most part. The controls feel solid and easy to get used too however I feel some controls could be mapped to the same function like the interact and networking options which could streamline some events when youâre unsure how to interact with an object.
The action scenes in the game feel fun and helps to keep you on your toes while scavenging around however I do feel like some of the puzzles are a bit too challenging at times and could ward off some newbies who arenât used to this kind of puzzle game. .5/1
2.) immersion
The Fallâ does a great job in immersing you into the story and will have you feeling like you really are ARID trying to save her pilot in this strange new facility. If the environments and pop ups donât keep you engaged, the character dialogues and storytelling will definitely keep you coming back to a play a few sessions each day. The game also does a good job in character progression, characters from the start (including your own) are quite different once you get to the end⊠1/1
3.) creativeness
âThe Fallâ sets itself apart with itâs story as well as gameplay interactions and controls. The game has a solid mix of action and wit and all of the machines have their own flair that makes it hard to contrast anything to black or white, thereâs always a grayness looming about. Also a pretty cool feature was how you were able to lock more moves and controls by putting yourself in particular situations that would give you control over more things in the suit as well as being able to activate the start menu as if you were actually your Suits armor. 1/1
4.) Replay
The replay value in the game is âokayâ, but youâll get everything pretty much in the first play through. If youâre a achievement junkie you can always go back to get the ones you missed (if you didnât so in the first play through) and thereâs also a directors commentary option you can turn on too which is quite neat, but thereâs nothing you can do to actually change the course of the story. .5/1
5.) fun
âThe Fallâ was a fun game from start to finish, doing an excellent job of presenting a cool Sci fi story that was very engaging with great character progression and atmosphere. Iâm not a big puzzle gamer but I have to say I definitely liked the puzzle elements even more than I did the action sequences. 1/1
Overall, âThe Fallâ is an excellent indie game that I believe everyone should try out if given the chance, and a game that I full recommend to anyone, especially since itâs just the first episode in the series!
After calculating the scoresâŠ.. âThe Fallâ gets a 4 out of 5!

Played a tiny bit of The Fall. ARID, honeyâŠthat guyâs dead. Soooooo dead. You probably killed him on purpose. Just sayinâ.
Iâm seriously creeped out controlling an AI suit that has a mortally wounded/dead human meat husk sloshing around inside it. o_o
The More You âBow: How Did You Get All Those Amazing Guests?
The More You âBow is part of an ongoing series about the little ins and outs of Runbow. Each week weâre going to offer you a little more insight into this game we love so much. And yeah⊠we just kinda wanted to call something âThe More You âBow.â
This weekâs blog is brought to you by Dave, Producer on Runbow.
One of the questions we get asked more than any other is âHow on earth did you ever get all of those guests to agree to be a part of your game?â
The answer is boring: we were polite and asked very nicely. It worked.
More Flies with HoneyâŠ
Just a little over a year ago, Alex Rushdy (Creative Director on Runbow) and I were at IndieCade. It was incredibly overwhelming to be surrounded by such support and positivity for our game, sure, but it was even more intense to be located right next to Shovel Knight. THE Shovel Knight, right there, in the pixelated flesh. Oh, and the team from Yacht Club. Who are only slightly less famous than Shovel Knight.Â
We had been preparing for a huge indie launch on a Nintendo console, so the Shovel Knight success story was a bit of an inspiration throughout our development. They had recently announced Shovel Knightâs appearance in Road Redemption and it had been a longtime dream of ours to involve one or two guests in Runbow⊠so we just asked. We also shared a tent with the inimitable Chariot, The Fall, and Sportsball, so you can guess who we asked shortly after.
The thing about the indie community that weâve come to learn and love is that everyone has been there. People respect the work that it takes to get started and, when it comes to launching a new game and wanting to increase visibility, they know how hard that can be. So it was easy for these teams to want to help out. We also wanted to give back to the developers of some of our favourite games, and the people that helped us get going in our city and internationally.
More?
From Yacht Club it was easy to move forward and reach out to our other local heroes, DrinkBox, and by this point we had had a taste of friendship and we wanted more. Nintendo helped us reach out to some developers that we held in very high regard and everyone was overwhelmingly positive.Â
I should mention that it probably doesnât hurt that our game looked like a good time. We put a lot of effort into the core gameplay, our trailers, and our presence online before we started reaching out to other developers about expanding the roster. We wanted this to be an extension of our game, not the entire game itself, so our first focus was Runbowâs gameplay, and making an experience for a bunch of players at a time, which is why we donât change attacks between guests. The guests remain a fun symbol of the support and excitement that we have for the industry and that other developers have for Runbow, but the Runbow experience is the same no matter who you are. Iâm pretty sure that other developers understand that.Â
We love seeing crossovers like this, and hope that more developers do it, or continue to show support for each other in different ways. Itâs really important to us as members of the industry. (Itâs also really important to us to start an indie guest crossover arms race with the creators of Starr Mazer). Even little things like tweeting about fellow developers, buying their games and talking about the things that you like, talking about the games that excite you about games. This was our way of showing support for an industry that let us in with open arms, and it was something that was really important to us when we got started. Whether its crossovers, event-based support, or even spreading the word⊠this is the industry that we love and we hope it continues.Â
for people playing The Fall who canât shoot/fire on a keyboard
all you have to do is hold the firing key (left click) down cuz the gun has to charge before it fires
itâs also easier if you go to settings and put âyesâ next to toggling cuz going from right click to left click without any space in between is pretty impossible for mac
From Life Is Strange to Sam & Max, these are the episodic series we wish there were more of.
The Fall was counted as one! AWESOME!
