About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Nicole, and I’m a Pokémon Trainer from Unova. I’m more of a casual Trainer. Battling is a hobby for me, not a profession. I’ve never taken the League challenge and don’t plan to. Right now I have seven Pokémon total. They are as follows:

- Apollo (Espeon, male): My partner and very first Pokémon. At the time there had been a stray Leafeon hanging around that we fed on occasion. She ended up having a litter, and my parents said that once the kits were old enough I could keep one. Apollo has always been curious, sometimes too curious for his own good, and this was true even as an Eevee. He showed more interest in people than his siblings did, so he’s the one I decided to keep. He’s a loyal companion and is rarely seen inside his Poké Ball.

- Frostbite (Weavile, male): I caught him in the wild as a Sneasel. Looking back now, he was probably too much for an inexperienced Trainer’s second Pokémon. He was confident and proud and stubborn. He ignored commands, ignored any food I gave him, ignored me. He wanted nothing to do with me. However, he ended up being a great Pokémon. He can be aloof at times and a little standoffish towards strangers, but he’s just as loyal as the other Pokémon on my team.

- Spark (Kantonian Raichu, male): I caught him in the wild as a Pikachu. At the time Pikachu were showing up in the wild due to mass breeding and people either releasing them or the Pokémon getting loose. They used to be an invasive species here, and it was encouraged that people catch them to help decrease their population in the wild. I was lucky enough to find one. Spark is friendly and playful, but he gets distracted easily. He’s getting up there in years and is a retired battler.

- Storm (Jolteon, male): I found him as a stray, already fully evolved. He’s decently bigger than average, but he’s aware of his size and careful when playing with others. He’s a friendly and easy-going Pokémon. He’s very fond of children and young Pokémon and enjoys playing with them.

- Hestia (Kantonian Ninetales, female): I caught her in the wild as a Vulpix. She gets along with my team and enjoys their company, but she doesn’t usually join in when the others play. She seems content with watching them from a distance, though she can sometimes be convinced. She’s watchful and observant. She has a bit of a no-nonsense attitude and takes battling very seriously, though she also makes sure to never miss out on a good nap afterwards. She is a good bit smaller than average, which makes me think that she might’ve been a runt.

Hickory (Sawsbuck, male): I caught him in the wild fully evolved. He was an unexpected capture, as I wasn’t looking to add another Pokémon to my team yet. He’s calm and laid back and a little too trusting of others. He enjoys relaxing in the sun on most days. He’s unique for a Sawsbuck in that he is abnormally small. I suspect he has some form of dwarfism. As such, I have no plans to use him in battle.

Kurama (Unovan Zorua, male): My most recent capture. Not much to say about him yet since I haven’t owned him long enough.

This blog is essentially run by me in a world where Pokémon exist. Some posts are based on things that happen in my everyday life, others are just things that I come up with. My Pokémon are based on their in-game counterparts.

I try to look at the Pokémon world from a more realistic perspective for this blog. As far as logic goes and how the world works, I take inspiration from both the games and the show, while also mixing in a good amount of realism and my own headcanons. As for what events are canon, I base it off of the games. It’s worth noting that Pokémon aren’t perfectly 1 to 1 with real life animals in my canon. The average Pokémon is more intelligent than their animal equivalent, but they still have instincts and often display animal-like behavior. They can’t speak like humans do or understand human speech like they can in the show, though most species are capable of some level of empathy and rational thought. In my canon the anime is a cartoon in the Pokémon world.

I’m perfectly fine with discussing more serious topics on this blog. I try to take a more grounded approach. Dark or otherwise mature topics are welcomed.

Real world continents and countries, along with Pokémon regions, exist in my canon. Regions make up a portion of the country they’re meant to represent. So for example, Japan is made up of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. The northeastern part of the US is made up of the Unova region. France is made up of the Kalos region, etc. It’s more common for people to refer to the specific regions when talking about different parts of the world. Note that despite the existence of countries and continents, the geography of the Pokémon world is not identical to the real world.

Real life animals do not exist in my canon. They are completely replaced with Pokémon. I imagine that animals used to exist thousands of years ago, but were wiped out due to the existence of Pokémon.

As a zoura it would be fine to leave it near the sawsbuck probably never let it near the Raichu like ever

No worries, I don’t plan to. I’m not sure if a Raichu would be too big for a Zorua to go after, but I’m not taking the risk. Spark is old and I don’t know how well he’d even be able to protect himself. I wouldn’t risk his safety like that.

My worry with Hickory is how much smaller he is than a standard Sawsbuck. A Zorua wouldn’t go after a fully grown Sawsbuck. A Zoroark might, but not a Zorua. But Hickory is smaller than normal, so I’m honestly not sure if Kurama would be tempted to try to make a meal of him. Again, not worth the risk. That’s why I don’t let Hickory near my Weavile or Ninetales either. Aside from not wanting him to get hurt, he gets restless around predator Pokémon. No reason to stress him out if I don’t have to.

Your zoura hasn't attempted to eat any of your members yet

No, of course not. Well, I haven’t actually introduced Kurama to any of my other Pokémon yet, but I’m not foolish enough to let a predator alone with prey Pokémon. My Raichu and Sawsbuck are the only ones I have to worry about, and I already don’t leave them unsupervised with any of the predator Pokémon on my team.

oh of course. these were just some of the fossils they had but most of my other pictures are either poor selfies or pictures with my niblings front and centre. there were a lot of people walking around the tyrantrum so I couldn't get pictures without people, so I've censored them a little. im not a professional photographer so you can probably find better pictures somewhere else online

So cool! I haven’t been to the Nacrene City museum, but I know their exhibit used to be much smaller. I wonder if the Dragonite skeleton is still there.

for those with one or more pokemon, do you consider any of them to be kinda uncommon? like in relation to what region you live in and or here on rotomblr

i think my answer for my pokemon would maybe be pangoro? my place of residence is in paldea and i cant really recall having seen anyone else with a pangoro or a pancham there though i dont doubt that there are some around, i also rarely see anyone with a pangoro or pancham here on rotomblr

if i was back in galar with my mam though my answer would be sawsbuck

same question regarding names, like do you consider any of your pokemons names as uncommon? again, in relation to what region you live in and or here on rotomblr

i think my espurrs name being eilwen is pretty uncommon, havent seen it anywhere on rotomblr at least

My Raichu and Zorua. Raichu because they’re not naturally found in Unova, but ten or so years ago Pikachu were an invasive species here. Meanwhile Zorua, despite being native to Unova, are very elusive and hard to find in the wild.

As for the names of my Pokémon, I’d say they’re pretty common.

Kurama is taking food from my hand more consistently now. I guess the next step would be getting to a point where I can pet him without him shying away. I haven’t really made an attempt to touch him yet because I don’t want to push him too quickly. One mistake can damage the trust I’m trying to build with him.

There is 6 to a group I think the litwick started a coup or something there boss the one with the big horn is nowhere to be seen

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that happening before. It’s from my understanding that Falinks are hard-wired to listen to the “brass” of the group. No idea why they would willingly choose to follow a Litwick around. I’m also mildly concerned about where the leader of the troop is.

Hows The shadow creature doing

Lol, he’s doing good! We’re slowly making progress. He took food from my hand yesterday, though he’s still hesitant. I think he’s more settled compared to when I first caught him, but he’s still pretty unsure of everything.

I’m very eager to start doing battle training with him. Obviously that won’t be for a while. We still have a long way to go before I start testing his battle potential, but I’m looking forward to having another battle ‘mon.

A small update on the Zorua! I think I might stick with the name Kurama, but it’s early enough that I might end up changing it. I’ve been working with him on trust building for the last few days. As of right now that just consists of me showing him that I’m safe. He won’t take food from my hand yet (not that I expected him to), but he does eat it when I toss it to him. I haven’t introduced him to any of my Pokémon yet. It’s still too soon for that.

I've always thought mirage was a good name for a zoura

That’s actually one of the names I saw in my research. It’s fitting, though in truth, when I hear the name Mirage all I can think of is that one character from The Incredibles.

I find it always fun to give them a name fitting the pokemon you actually caught them as so if they were a fidough you named them after a pastry if you caught them as a different pokemon you use a name fitting that pokemon

Anyone have some name ideas for a male Zorua? I was thinking of naming him Kurama, but I’m not sure if that fits. I’d love to hear some suggestions.

Warning the zorark line are the type to get bored easily especially if you plan on feeding it by hand or bowl you better have a lot of enrichment

For sure! Weavile and Ninetales are the same way, so I’m prepared in that regard. I usually get them frozen chunks of meat as an occasional treat for enrichment and to encourage natural behaviors. I plan on doing the same for my Zorua.

Lol, exactly. Next few weeks to the next month is going to be focusing on building trust and getting it used to my other Pokémon. It’s fun, but man is it a lot of work! Takes a lot of time and patience.
