And it Smelt Like Cupcakes [UNFINISHED]
Julie didn’t like a lot of makeup. She had a tendency to forget it was on and rub her eyes, or go to sleep and wake up looking like a raccoon. The one thing she didn’t mind was lip gloss. She had them in about a thousand colors, some meant to be worn everyday and others that she had no idea when to wear, but it just looked cool, like her purple lip gloss (what, it was only two dollars and who wouldn’t want multi chrome purple lip gloss?). But the one lip gloss that she loved the most was simple. A sparkly mid tone pink with its silver lettering rubbing off, and a black cap. She doesn’t wear it, considering it’s about ten years old, but it was always in her pocket or bag.
But now she couldn’t find it.
“Dad! Have you seen my lipgloss?”
Ray Molina poked his head into the studio, looking at the torn apart studio with the pillows thrown around and stray clothing from the loft having fallen to the ground.
“Sorry mija, haven’t seen it. You checked the bathroom already?”
Julie frantically nodded running to crawl under the couch, peering under as Ray left to go finish getting ready to bring Carlos to his practice.
Scrambling out from under the couch, she went back up to the loft to dig through the piles to see if the tube had slipped out when she was doing her homework up there with Flynn. Since she was so focused on finding the lip gloss, the swishing sound that indicated the appearance of Julie’s phantoms was unheard.
Said girl screamed, tumbling backwards and almost falling off the loft but catching herself at the last second. Climbing down, she tried to school her expression into a happy one, an excited one, anything that could be considered appropriate for having a performance later that night.
Reggie’s eyebrows furrowed, looking at the well hidden frantic look on her face. Looking over at the other two, it was clear they had just thought she had been surprised and that’s why she had a bit of an odd look on her face but he knew better.
“Luke, Alex, go grab the food that Tia put on the table. Bring it out here, grab some plates and the lunchboxes. Don’t take too long.” Reggie looks at the too, an uncharacteristically serious look on his face.
They all knew when he said “Don’t take too long” it really meant “Drag the process out for as long as possible”.
