This writing is a test of strength for the audience god. I'm sick of the Moulin Rouge bullshit. ur not clever for using the ultimatum of some insecure antagonist to tear apart people who putatively love each other. I get that Alec is worried and desperate and feels powerless after the dinner scene but he literally is abusing leverage he knows he has by hurting Magnus. If you can use your love and support against him you could've used it for him. Magnus wasn't asking you to fix his pain, he needed you to be there for him while he sought his own help. It's a demonstration of distrust and selfishness to think you can take someone else's recovery into your own hands.

Magnus loves his magic. It means everything to him. In his own words, “he is nothing without his magic” And he just gave it up like that, without second thought, to spare Alec from having to kill his own parabatai.

I have one wish

Could Alec tell Magnus about the deal to let him make a decision by himself? Now he feels unable to control his own life what makes him vulnerable. He hates it. That’s why I think Magnus would get mad if he realized that Alec chose for him instead of talking to him, showing him options, making their conversations about mutual honesty and communication true.

This man deserves to be allowed to decide how his life would look like and Alec should finally get to understand that.
