A good relationship with reality

Commenting fanfiction is the easiest thing in the world once you start doing it.
I leave a comment on every single fic I read. Sometimes when I read published books I go and leave a comment somewhere the author can find it. Granted, I literally majored in ‘leaving comments on fics’ (English Education), but once you start doing it it just becomes second nature. Now you’re gonna go to the Ozymandias school of leaving comments:
Problem: I can’t leave kudos again.
Beginner: This is a second/third/fourth Kudos
Advanced: This is my second/third/fortieth time reading this, I still love it so much. Here are a few new things I noticed. I like the way you personally do x, y, z compared to other authors I’ve read (in this ship/genre/fandom).
Problem: I don’t know what to say :(
Beginner: Just list what you did to read this fic. “I stayed up late reading this”, “I read this on a crowded train”, “this kept me company while sick”.
Advanced: X,Y,Z parts made me get butterflies, and I had a physical reaction to this part of the story, I squealed outloud when characters did x,y,z. I blushed at this part. I laughed out loud here. Whatever.
Problem: I’m embarrassed to leave a comment (what if I annoy the author?)
Beginner: Short answer: you won’t EVER annoy the author (unless you’re needlessly mean) But to start, be generic, you don’t have to spill your soul in the comments section. “I liked this” “I enjoyed reading this” “nice fic”.
Advanced: This really meant a lot to me that you wrote this. This is something I feel like I’ve always wanted to read. This fic hit me in all the right places. Etc.
Problem: I don’t know how to express myself/my experience
Beginner: My beginners go to is to highlight a line, put that in your comment and say “i liked this” or to identify basic emotions you had while reading and comment those “this made me happy” “this part made me sad” “i almost cried” “you made me laugh” Advanced: “Highlighted line” This line made me smile because it has to do with character development/it’s really romantic/it’s so unique/it’s moving. Sometimes I don’t highlight a line at all, I just talk about the stuff I’ve noticed were unique to the fic. “I love the way you did this particular thing with this character”.
This? This is an amazing post. This is the Captain Awkward of commenting posts—it addresses all your fears directly and gives you actionable scripts for each one.
yeah i can’t speak for others but if you Cannot Words but want to comment on my fic, finding a bit you really liked, copypasting it into the comment window, and labeling it something like ‘wow’ or ‘best’ or ‘this’ or w/e goes a really long way
I use chains of <3<3<3<3<3<3 or heart emojis when I can’t make words work but want to show my appreciation
The characters and fandoms I enjoy writing change often, so I’m organizing it by what I’m experienced with (what I’ve written before) and what I’m interested in (what I haven’t written, but would like to).

i. 18+ only. I’m 30 years old and really don’t feel comfortable writing with anyone underage, even if it’s generic non-relationship stuff.
ii. I write in present tense. I’d appreciate a matching tense. Makes re-reading our stuff much easier, and I’d love to go back and read the stories we’ll create together.
iii. I’m a selective writer. I put thought into my responses, how my character moves, how they respond emotionally to your character, the immediate setting, the world we’ve made for them. That said, I understand tired days and don’t expect anyone to write at 100% all the time. That’s why I enjoy flash responses (a couple sentences) or dialogue-only scenes (texting). Sometimes, I’m ready to dig into the rough stuff to write, and sometimes I need an easier scene that’s less stressful and time consuming. You can always tell me if you need a break, or just want to write something a little easier or lighthearted. Fuck knows I need it half the time, too.
iv. I’m a discord roleplayer. It’s convenient, fast, and we can even make our own server to organize different characters and stories if we click. I will not be roleplaying on this Tumblr. PM me for my Discord if you’re interested in writing with me, I’d love to chat. ♥
v. For explicit content, I prefer a slow burn. I’d rather write several scenes and see where the chemistry leads. Your character “being sexy” towards mine doesn’t often lead to sexiness happening between them (and vice versa). That said, we can plot just about anything, and if explicit scenes fit well into a story idea (sex pollen trope, sirens, “marking” for protection, etc.) then hell yeah bring it on. Basically, if our characters get intimate, I just want it to make sense within the story, and not feel like we’re smooshing two dolls together. vi. Another note on explicit content: I’m fine writing it out. I’m also fine fading to black and just having the implication. Never, never, never feel pressured to write something you don’t want to write.
vii. Relationships and pairings: as long as it’s consensual, anything goes. I prefer m/m, but I can write m/f if the chemistry is right. I’m comfortable with just about anything (incest, dubcon, enemies to lovers, etc.) as long as the relationship is, at its core, consensual.
viii. I’ll write more when I think of something else.

The worst part about being mostly human is definitely the bones. They're just so frail. Easily broken. Take forever to mend. Really, evolution didn't do too hot of a job on humans in general, but it could have at least given them a base structure that wasn't prone to snapping at the slightest bit of pressure.
Or a thirty story fall from a high speed hover car charging down an elevated highway on an unfamiliar planet.
But who's keeping track, right?
