had to miss yesterday due to a family emergency, and because of that same emergency I won’t be able to finish chapter 3- but I did try to get 30 minutes in of studying anyway!

worked on my building my bridge out of balsa wood today! it's almost finalized, and it's being tested in just over a week :D honestly, i'm a little unsure of how much it can support because i've never build an arch bridge before, but it seemed like the best way to meet the clearing requirement under the loading plane. on an unrelated note, i want to sand some spare sticks into cylinders and dip them in the green glue that was provided to make fake matcha pocky.

college app update: i submitted another one yesterday, so i only have one more to go!!!! also wrote a letter of continued interest for a school i was deferred from today. yippee ! i am almost free ! and then there were the horrors (interviews) i think i will also make another post where i specifically talk about my apps because there is So Much

This last week of classes has been absolutely brutal. I've got a biochem lab report due tomorrow night and I only just started it today. Yikes! Eating lots of mini marshmallows to cope

spent the morning studying while having coffee. there was no proper food at home so I just snacked on hopia the whole day. j and i went to the beach around 2ish and i studied one topic until 4, then jogged and did a modified circuit for 30mins because idk any good gym around the area. feeling good!!! we are back at our favorite café by the beach, about to eat dinner 😋 more good days like this by the beach please!!

ps. might also start plotting some places that i’d like to hike to/visit because i love nature i love exploring

Random writing tips that my history professor just told during class that are actually helpful

Download all your sources or print them so you can turn off your wifi

Give your phone to someone

Just. WRITE. Writing is analysing, you’ll get more ideas as you write. It doesn’t need to be perfect, for now you can just blurt out words and ideas randomly. You can fix it later.

Create a skeleton/structure before writing.

Stop before you get exhausted. It’s best to stop writing when you still have some energy and inspiration left, this will also motivate you to get started again next time.

Make a to do list

Work in bite sizes. Even if it’s not much, as long as you put some ideas on paper or do some editing.

Simple language =/= boring language, simple language = clear language.

Own your words. If they are not your words, state this clearly in the text, not just in the footnotes.

STOP BEFORE YOU GET EXHAUSTED. Listing it again because it’s easily one of the best tips a teacher has ever given me.

today, i have a surgery to do and a meeting at 2:30! then, i'm hoping to get halfway through this paper one of my lab mates will be presenting on later this week.

feels good to be back in my research full force until the holiday break now that applications are over.
