I know AO3 collates emails together and no one is getting 13 separate update emails.
But I am amused by the image of 82 people getting inbox bombed by a fic old enough to go to kindergarten.

At a field hospital on the edge of the warzone, he meets a woman with a secret and a man he had never expected to see again.
I blast posted the entirety of the draft of this. It is not as perfect as I imagined but the romance arc is there and I am glad to have it out in the world. It’s back-dated to 2025 so if you weren’t subscribed, it won’t show up on the top of the tag lists but I hope it brings somebody a smile.
Chapter 28: Guest
Is where the new content starts.
greatest dynamic in the world IS strange, eccentric asshole and their normal and polite friend who on closer inspection is actually worse in deeply weird and unexpected ways

Harrowhark Nonagesimus would be soo good with computers if they were widespread in Dominicus. I will not hear out any "but she would be tech illiterate..." arguments. She is powered by spite and her imaginary corpse friend, she would learn C++ in two days if it meant being better than those who won't. She would love to ban Gideon off the tlt universe internet with a single fucking click, and she is willing to learn 10 programming languages just to do it in increasingly surreal and comical means. She would enjoy making the machine do exactly what she wants because she needs that extra bit of control, she would invent malware that summons skeletons in your room to spread the ninth house vibes across dominicus.
Harrow would be able to run Doom on a skeleton
the fact that generative A.I. has created a completely new fundamental doubt in reality (checking to see if an artwork we see is manmade or not) and doubt in the instinct of enjoying art is unforgivable. its sickeningly tragic, and i mean it. NOTHING is worth this price and i hope that everyone will one day realize this.
THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE THE TIME WAR happy birthday @alicenthighstower ♡
I love you and I love you and I love you, on battlefields, in shadows, in fading ink, on cold ice splashed with the blood of seals. In the rings of trees. In the wreckage of a planet crumbling to space. In bubbling water. In bee stings and dragonfly wings, in stars. In the depths of lonely woods where I wandered in my youth, staring up — and even then you watched me. You slid back through my life, and I have known you since before I knew you.

hey, sorry if this comes off as nagging, because i mean it out of genuine curiosity - do you think you'll ever write for infernal devices again? you were such a crucial author to the cause 🙏 but ofc i'm v happy you're enjoying yourself in a new fandom asw and obviously ur writing is still as amazing as ever
Don't worry! I'm not offended by the question.
I'm not going to say absolutely never but I don't feel any draw to return to the fandom right now.
There are reasons that I'm not feeling any draw to the Shadowhunters universe (characters are so young and that feels more prominent as I get older, everyone over 35 is married with kids, I don't care for the massive casts or the teen romance, so I have no interest in getting caught up) but it's not like it was a calculated decision to walk away.
The whims of the hyper fixation just change. I was deep in TID for a decade. I posted my first fic in 2014. I think my brain just wanted new sandboxes to play in.
I'm just having so much fun with the OC-creation machine and deep pool of lore and worldbuilding that is RPG gaming. Also characters who come out of the box already older than 35.
There's one thing I do want to return to and push out into the world but it's also now writing that is close to 5 years old and it feels awkward to read it because I'm out of the voice and my flow has changed.
But the vast majority of the unfinished fic won't get finished.
<3
I loved writing in that world and spending time with these characters. I hope some of the old stuff holds up to the rereading and everyone who is still writing and reading and talking about the Shadowhunters is having so much fun.
i've been really curious about this due to my own experience in certain fandoms, sooo here goes...
has a fandom ever ruined a ship for you?
yes (i stopped shipping something solely because of the fandom)
yes (nuance)
no (a ship's fandom has nothing to do with me shipping it)
no (nuance)

Magic school story from the point of view of the kind of officious 38 year old head teacher. I am so amused.
The school politics. The possessed photocopier. Her have a whole ass gay moment about her coworker. One of the students helps banish a demon and she says “well done. Have a house point.”
it’s not absurdist but it is very funny
I really like fictional couples that actually enjoy spending time with each other. It seems like such a simple, mundane thing. But, often, I see fictional couples who are completely enamored and dramatic and willing to die for each other, which is fine. But like… do they enjoy hanging out? Do they have private jokes and would they be friends even if they weren’t in love? It feels like such a basic thing, but it’s something that I actually don’t see that often. And it feels so refreshing and honest compared to these over-dramatic romeo and juliet-esque romances. Just two people who become good friends and because they enjoy each other’s presence so much it grows into a strong attraction. It feels more real and tangible than two attractive people meeting and “falling in love at first sight” - like, of course, you fell in love at first sight! You’re both supermodels! Sorry, can’t relate.
Heart to Heart
Character who's a third wheel, but in the same way that a tricycle has three wheels. You technically might be able to remove him, but it's going to be a lot less stable and a lot more likely to result in someone's death if you do.
