Imps - Communication devices for Duras
(Disclaimer: I’ve got heavily inspired by the Golems from D. Gray-Man, because I love the concept of more or less conscious devices who follows you around :’D and it fits into Infernus, since most of the Duras have familiars) - Duras have their own way to contact or communicate with each other - either through other Duras (messengers), the classic letters or familiars (who either carries the letter or sending a voice mail)
- There are special little creatures who are breed only for communication purposes. They are named Imps and their looks may differ from each other, only thing they have in common are their strong and long wings. Depending on Imp Rank, they are either small critters or bigger creatures with wings and more ‘functions’.
- They have antenna like appendages on different part of their furry bodies (on the head like horns, on the back or as a tail) which are used to contact other Imps. To be able to contact an Imp (for example that from a friend) their antennas need to connect and the Imps need to exchange their vital information. This information is similar like a special wave length and only the Imps who saved this information can contact the other specific Imp.
- Almost every Duras have (or should have) an Imp as an familiar. Some have more than one for different purposes. You can either buy them from a breeder or catch them in the wilderness - although wild Imps will cause problems, because they’re not easy to tame.
- Unlike other winged or flying familiars, Imps possess the ability to contact other Imps who are far away without being physically near them (like a phone). High leveled one can even send a videocall. Same goes for prerecorded messages.
- Unfortunately there are some Duras who also love to use their Imps as spies and let them stalk and record their ‘prey’. But there are methods to detect a spying Imp or prevent it.
- Sadly, you can’t text each other. It’s for calling or receiving calls only. If you wanna write someone, you need to send letters.
- Alternatively you can send your own Imp as a mail carrier to someone else or with a friend to protect them.
- Depending on where you are, the connection could either be very good or bad. You can observe a lot of Duras (especially in rural areas of Infernus) who are bending the Imp antennas or climbing very high to get a good signal.
- Sadly their abilities are not working in the human world or are very limited.
- Imps hate cold weather. They like to snuggle beneath your clothes or staying in inactive mode (as a ring, necklace or ear ring). When they’re active, they follow you around or sitting somewhere on your shoulders. - They love eating sweets, but eating too much will make them hyper and there is the possibility that they will ‘buttdial’ someone from your friend/contactlist and send them a lot of gibberish.
