hello! i'm glad you found my blog! if you did, it's probably because of uraai, right?

well, i talk about all things uraai and bleach here!

my all-time favorite ship in bleach is uraai (kisuke urahara x sosuke aizen).

i prefer top! kisuke & bottom! aizen, and i do not engage with the reverse dynamic. it's just not my cup of tea!

i don't necessarily always talk about them as a ship and very much enjoy kisuke & sosuke's characters in the canon plot, and i always welcome analysis surrounding them. their dynamic is very intriguing to me and is often the focal point of my posts.

i enjoy other kisuke ships & aizen ships. some of these ships include: urayoru and uramayu, mostly, but i don't mind other ships for them. if i don't like a ship, i'll just not engage with it. :) i also do like other ships that don't involve these two: such as ishiren, ishiichi, ichigrimm and more!

consider that for the sake of plot (powerscaling aside) aizen gets captured by the quincy and is kept hostage. already he's embarassed that he's chained up by them and humiliated in this matter. then comes kisuke urahara by order of c46 to free aizen so he can help them and kisuke is so smug about it, sneaking aizen out.

kisuke: i did not expect to see you like this, lord of hueco mundo and the espada. i guess you really do need my help~

urahara kisuke as the spider & sosuke aizen as the butterfly.

the more obvious one is sosuke as the butterfly, as we've seen him resemble one during his transformation. for aizen, the butterfly symbolizes transcendence as evolution, from a stage of chrysalis, evolving to a full-fledged butterfly, or in his case, being. sosuke aizen sheds his former self to become this new god creating a rebirth of sorts for himself.

kisuke as a spider is interesting because a spider's web is extremely interconnected and intricate in design, and it can resemble kisuke's thousand strategies and contingency plans, all so complex and connected to one another, just in case one fails. being prepared for everything. and the multiple arms(or legs) that a spider has reminds me of his SAFWY novel form:

kisuke's shibari, benihime, is shaped almost like a spider's web: a bunch of nets connected together to form one long, intricate web designed to capture an opponent.

my friend @bleachplease also pointed out how a spiderweb could be symbolised as a prison, the spider a warden, which resembles kisuke who was the warden of the maggot's nest in the past.

moreover, benihime's main colors are red and black, which also remind me of the black widow spider which has a black body and red markings in an hourglass shape.

with his evolution as a butterfly and transcendence, aizen was still caught and sealed in kisuke's webs & his plans.

post tybw uraai in which the captains are trying to figure out how to contain aizen because chair sama is broke, and kisuke, delirious from blood loss and listening in says, “he can sit on my lap” and everyone is like ???. aizen would never admit it but he thought about it and there's a very heavy silence where even shunsui looks surprised (and a bit amused) and aizen's reiatsu almost flares again but he's never going to admit that he entertained the thought

I gotta know, do you think Aizen would be a good parent? I imagine him similar to a psychopath raising children. Not necessarily loving but doing all the right things for them because they're "his".

I think Aizen struggles to be a good parent. I personally don’t like to think of characters as psychopaths/sociopaths etc because I haven’t studied psychology nor am I a psychologist/professional, it just doesn’t sit well with me. I’m just going strictly on my thoughts and readings of him.

I think it’s important to remember that Aizen knows what kindness, sternness and compassion look like - he fooled the Gotei 13 for centuries because of this. So I could see him using this in terms of parenting too - he knows what a good parent would look like.

But if he does this from a place of love is another thing entirely. And a lot of children can sense that in their parent. I don’t see Aizen as someone who would see his children as “his” in a possessive object sense. But I think he would struggle with the change of priorities and freedom. Children are inherently weak, and he sought to have a world where the strong rule. Does this mindset change for children? We don’t know because we don’t see him interacting with actual small children. He created Wonderweiss, but as a means to an end in stopping Yamamoto. Aizen didn’t see him as a child.

So that’s the other thing, are his children a means to an end? Were they “accidents?” Or something he wanted? Something him and his partner wanted?

I also think of how Kubo mentioned for the High School Warfare AU, Aizen would be a teacher. Taking that, I love the idea that Aizen would foster the curiosity in his children, just like he himself, is curious. Maybe, similar to how his conversation with Renji at the start of the Soul Society arc, he gets them to question authority, think beyond what they see.

In all honesty, I cannot see Aizen as a dotting parent, but rather a parent who is firm yet struggles with having a particular vision for his child. He might see them as an experiment of sorts, which isn’t a good mindset to have, but I think he could, in his particular way, give, teach and provide them with an interesting, and possibly enriching and meaningful life.

kisuke urahara is the kind of man that takes his mistakes, files them, and dissects them bit by bit so he never repeats them again. case in point: the confrontation with aizen. the first time he had confronted aizen in turn back the pendulum arc he had been painfully unprepared and haphazardly confronted aizen, alongside tessai, with no contingency plans. after this defeat against aizen, kisuke learned from this mistake and instead of fighting byakuya and renji in soul society arc (since rukia had the hogyoku inside her) he carried out his plan slow and steady — lure sosuke aizen out using the hogyoku and rukia as bait, let him show his cards and betray the soul society. then, as soon as his name was cleared, he worked with the soul soicety and used their resources to help take down aizen.

i dunno where i was going with this when i clipped these bits and set them aside.

Maybe something about aizen once again being a weird little copycat and just riding Urahara's coat tails, and the clear implication that everything Aizen did to try and overthrow the reioh were things Urahara had already considered and had his own measures/means for, and we just never learned why he never went up there and killed god himself... Not that this is a particularly strong case of it but it could be argued fits into a larger trend of details.

wonderweiss & the hogyoku's origins

i've seen theories about how wonderweiss attacks people who have a secret to hide (gin, kisuke, even ukitake) which makes a lot of sense to me.

gin hides his secret revenge plot against aizen, biding his time in order to be the one to kill aizen sosuke and put an end to him for his own reasons.

kisuke, as we all know, presents a very laidback and cheery demeanor infront of the espada and other soul reapers as well, while hiding a secret side that's more manipulative, controlling and clincal

ukitake's a kind captain, who's fragile because of his health, and is the host of mimihagi, the soul king's sentient right hand.

not to mention his own boss, lord aizen, has hid secrets for centuries now (from lieutenant, to captain, to finally revealing the truth to the soul society and his colleagues)

i wondered why wonderweiss specifically has this instinct that can fish it out? is it cause of the hogyoku itself? besides he's the only arrancar we've seen get made infront of us using the hogyoku.

the hogyoku was naturally a secret. a taboo thing. it was made in secret by kisuke and aizen — kisuke who hid his research from everyone and aizen who experimented and sacrificed souls secretly in the forests.

aizen also says that the hogyoku itself hides a wish fulfillment mechanic when it was originally thought to be something that only breaks the boundaries between hollows and soul reapers? therefore it also hides a secret. is this perhaps why wonderweiss is so sensitive and attuned to others who hide a secret part of themselves?

note to self: a fic idea where aizen uses a gigai that conceals reiatsu (same one kisuke created) alongside kyoka suigetsu to look like a normal, random human being. he calls this an integration mission to see if the urahara shoten has any valuable intel he could use or anything regarding the hogyoku, and he spends the whole week as this human man who first shows up at the wrong address for a date at the shoten, opens the door to a kisuke who's only in his boxers, then it progresses to finally a one night stand (sosuke totally planned this) and kisuke putting him through the mattress. sosuke returns to soul society with no intel at all and his legs trembling. :3
