What’s my latest obsession? Knitting headbands! There’s nothing more gratifying right now than the click of my needles and the beautiful way the yarn’s texture comes together to form such lovely fabrics. Best yet, the yarn I’m working with has been salvaged or donated to my studio, making these sustainable 😁 With the cold weather teasing winter’s coming, these headbands are sure to move fast 😽 Stop by the shop tonight to grab one while supplies (and my interest in knitting them) last! $20 each- I’ll be here until 8 pm. Prepping for my soft opening and @lunarfaire ! Only I would be insane enough to tackle two big events like this in the same week 😅 Part of opening up a physical storefront is being able to devote more energy to the “custom curated” side of things- I’ve been having a lot of fun shopping for last-chance unusual treasures from different dealers I have worked with over the span of my art career. I’m also in talks with various local artists about featuring their works in my storefront, which has always been a dream of mine- everyone deserves an opportunity to sell their works in a supportive and inclusive environment! In between homeschooling my kids and setting up the new shop space, I’ve been prepping new product for @lunarfaire Thank goodness that @boontoncoffee is so close by- even though I can make coffee in the studio, nothing is more mentally refreshing than stretching my legs and grabbing a #pumpkinspicelatte to fuel more production runs 😽 I just finished a run of 20 new earth toned bracelets featuring red garnet, a mineral often used when one engages in work to clear away old inhibitions and cultivate self-confidence so that they may make way for genuine, loving, passionate relationships. It’s just been a week for big adventures! After signing the lease on the studio storefront, @ironiclyawesomename and I took the kids down to #washingtondc for our family’s first big vacation! Waking up in #dc today was an absolute treat, and we hit the ground running! We spent the morning at the @smithsonianzoo checking out the #pandas #elephants and #cheetahs before moving on to visit the @librarycongress …then we wandered a bit more, snagged a killer meal at this neat vegan joint called Sticky Fingers, and wandered near the @uscapitol taking in the night scene. So today, I did a thing… I’ve never considered myself a risk-taker before, but the outpouring of support I have received from the Boonton community since I moved here 7 years ago has me thinking big. Dreaming wild dreams. Reaching further than I would once have ever given myself permission to. Urbane Gypsy Arts will be a space that honors that spirit as I launch into the next phase of my artistic career.
