Burch and Purchase

Burch and Purchase provides melbourne some of the best desserts the city has to offer. Well known for their wedding catering they also have a large amount of off the shelf ready to eat cakes, pops and their signature deconstructed cakes.

Easily better than their actual cakes, the deconstructed cakes are built up of delicious elements in their own right that are even better when they're all in the same bite. Our favourites are the coffee chocolate and mascapone which is equal parts creamy, chocolately and coffee-y. We also loved the coconut, ginger and passionfruit. It's light and not over-powering and all the flavours complement each other.

Mrs Parmas

Mrs Parmas promises the best parmas in Melbourne with big servings, quality and service. With their large range of Parmas, everyone will be able to find something they'll love.

A couple of classics are the Mexican which is great with all the trimmings and the Margarita with the traditional oregno and tomato base. Or if you just want the classic that's there too!

8Bit

8Bit serves one of the finest burgers, hotdogs, milkshakes and fries in Melbourne hidden away in the back streets of Footscray.

As a testamont to the quality of the burgers at 8Bit, the line was out the door at 1 on an average Friday. The vibe was relaxed unless you were after a table, inwhich case it was cut throat (they do have takeaway options as well).The food is also really cheap and affordable which you will be surprised about considering how good the food is.

We ordered the 8Bit with cheese, the After Burner and a side of beer battered fries. The burgers were both served on an amazing brioche bun and every ingredient was cooked to perfection. While the 8Bit with cheese was the standard burger you would get, it is still a great burger to try. The After Burner has a bit more spice to it with jalepenos, chilli sauce and chipotle mayo. The fries were golden and crispy with the right amount of seasoning.

The service is highly rated with the people being friendly and polite with a good knowledge in the food they provide.

Cornershop Cafe

In the heart of Yarraville near the station, this indie cool cafe has a heap of charm and character, which shows in the food.

To start, get some coffee. As with any indie cafe the coffee here was excelent. They also did the very courteous thing of serving water which was a big plus in my eyes.

The big recomendation would be the baked eggs with chorizo, goats cheese, tomato and labneb. It is exploding with flavour and a great food available all day. There are menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner so the selection of food is endless! The food i amazing so it won’t matter what you get.

The waiters are friendly and great to talk to with encyclopedic knowledge of the menu.

Crazy Wing

This little restaurant on Russel Street has lots of character and the vibe is energetic and all about the hottest wings in Melbourne! What you get is just grilled chicken but it's amazing.

It isn't just wings but there is vegetables, beef, lamb and other sides but what you really come there for is the wings. We recommend, for first-timers, to stay away from the crazy wing unless you like a challenge (they're the spiciest on the menu). We suggest getting the honey spicy wings, lobster wings and chilli spicy wings for people wanting to spice up your night.

The service is fast paced and aim to get your wings out as soon as possible. However, the waiters are not the friendliest so don't expect to make friends. But, you're coming for the good food anyway and that's what you'll get.

Gazi

Amazing food at an affordable price! George Calombaris' restaurant has a distinct laid back vibe serving some of the finest Greek street food in Melbourne.

For such a busy restaurant, the service was very professional and would easily hold a light to some of the best in Melboune. The wait staff have an apparent encyclopedic knowledge of the menu and come across in a friendly and expert manner.

We had a chicken souvlakakia, beef souvlakakia, and the Tiganites Patates; chips with feta and oregano. The beef souvlakakia with parsley, chips and mustard mayo was incredibly tender and was marinated in a rich and full flavored sauce which complemented the parsley and mustard mayo in the souvlakakia, making each bite well rounded and thoroughly enjoyable. The chicken souvlakakia was tender and well-seasoned, creating a memorable bite each time. The chips are definitely worth getting! The addition of feta and oregano making it better than some of their parts.

The bar at Gazi is anything if not extensive. The bartenders are the $10 Blue Cups, which change every week, and is always a pleasant surprise. The other crowd favorite is the $6 Espessotini containing a shot of coffee, dehydrated Raspberries and coffee liquor.
