So, for those who don’t know, I love making these. It’s kind of my thing. When I love something, I almost feel like it’s my duty to share as much of it as possible and make it easier for other people who love it–or might love it–to find it. A couple years back, I used 8tracks to make a similar, but not nearly as comprehensive, playlist. But it fought me, and now there’s more to add, and I don’t feel like fighting with it again. That said, I bring you this collection of links to anything musical that any Jessie Mueller fan should absolutely hear. This will include YouTube links to official cast albums, videos of some performances, and other links to audio that people have uploaded from concerts and such. Sincerest thank yous to those who uploaded any of these.

eva usually is so assured but that scene on the deck she was FUMBLING and the way she looked at him......her eyes were so soft and shes smiling at him, the way she quickly says "you dont bother me - " she keeps doing this when shes alone with him and ONLY with him the tension is palpable

thinking about how stratt felt when she heard the beetles got back and when she pressed play on the video recordings just to see the face of her situationship from 26 years ago and to find out that he woke up alone. she must have felt so much relief when grace found rocky, when the two of them were able to work together and save earth and erid. i can imagine her watching the recordings and not realizing that she’s got this huge smile on her face the whole time, just to reach the end and realize that grace is gone once again as everything she’s kept down all those years starts breaking through her walls.

Eva Stratt lifts her head from her work, finally, to glare at Olesya, who is sprawled in one of the two chairs in Stratt's office that has not succumbed to the explosion of files that have taken over the rest of the space. Olesya snickers at the expression on her face.

"It is innocent question!" She exclaims. Stratt's eyebrows twist further in apparent doubt.

"Ms. Ilyukhina. I do not mind that you are sleeping with as many members of the staff as you can."

"But?" Olesya stands and wanders closer.

"But I am not interested."

"In me or in women? I can change your mind," she sing-songs, and reaches to her.

Stratt catches her wrist and gives her an unimpressed look.

"I said no, Ms. Ilyukhina."

Olesya pulls her hand back and flops back down in the chair. "Was worth a shot," she says, and laughs. Stratt turns her attention back to her laptop. Olesya watches her for a minute, then says: "You could use it, though."

Stratt makes a noncommital noise. Olesya takes it as a question.

"Sex," she clarifies. "You are stressed. You could use some... Relief."

Stratt's typing pauses. After a second, she glances up at Olesya and scowls.

"I do not have time," she says, cold and biting. "For sex. Humanity's fate--" she starts typing again, with more force than Olesya thinks is strictly necessary. "--balances on a pinhead."

"Which is exactly why you need it," Olesya reasons. "How are you going to focus on saving the world when you are... Like this."

"Like what."

"Pent up," Olesya says, and grins at Stratt's irritated huff.

"Who could I possibly find to have sex with, anyway?"

"Me."

"No," Stratt says again, but she doesn't seem offended.

Olesya shrugs. "Suit yourself." A pause, as she looks Stratt up and down. Hmm. "You like men?"

Stratt frowns at her laptop screen, hesitates. After a moment: "Yes."

Another extended pause. "What about Dr. Grace?"

Olesya knows she has found a lead when Stratt stops typing again. She presses on. "He is a man. He is your number two. He is not hurtling off on a suicide mission." Pause. Considering. "He is good-looking."

Stratt's head snaps up and she glares at Olesya. Olesya laughs, delighted.

"You like him!"

"I do not."

"You do, look at your face when I say he is good-looking, you are pining!"

Stratt's scowl becomes more pronounced.

"It is okay," Olesya says cheerfully. "He is good man. You could have him, don't you see how he follows you around?"

Stratt does not respond to that, but Olesya can see how her cheeks get just a little more color. Good. She was starting to look like a corpse.

Strattland are truly the platonic soulmates doomed by the narrative, you can’t convince me otherwise. Just look at them:

Chasing after him personally to bring him onto the project, to watching him run, having neither the heart to stop him personally nor the choice to let him go anymore.

Going from needing two coffees to function and heading straight to work, to sharing one cup each and simply being still for a moment, together.

From bringing him into rooms and making everyone there appreciate him, to leading the room that is fully aware he is their only saving grace.

From “Must be hard, having to ask everybody to… you know.”

“Actually, it isn’t.”

To... “Don’t make this harder, please.”

The first and last time he makes her smile, by acknowledging her intelligence, (and being snarky about it).

By being surprised that she knows he was fired for calling the leading scholar in his field a “staggering waste of carbon,” rather than for standing by what he said as he tried to imply. And years later by throwing the phrase, “You’re smart, you’ll figure it out,” right back at her.

(& I could go on and on, like even about the items passed between them... the hackysack that’s not lava, and the xenon Grace figurine that’s not a gas :))))
