Lilo stepped in front of the massive dragon and pointed a fierce finger at the bullies. "You leave him alone!" (because /that/ mental image was too cute to resist)

  High above his little dragon’s head, the dragon bared the points of long fangs.  Spikes half again as long as his head splayed out in silent threat if any dare not fear her.

Lilo stood her ground as she watched their eyes widen moments before they turned and ran for their lives. She turned back to her dragon beaming; her proud grin brighter than the sun. “Did you see that?! They were scared of me!” She threw her hands up in celebration and then wiggled her arms in the air, mimicking them running away while laughing. Lilo spread her arms against his scales in an attempt to hug him.

Smoke rolled from between parted jaws with the celebrating Lilo, a chuckle chasing it.  Nose tucked in on himself to peer down, seeing was the only way he knew she touched him through thick scale and gold.  The middle of his folded wing gently brushed her shinning head.

  “Yes, terrified.  Their eyes rolled like cattle.”
