People who love every inch of this series unconditionally do not deserve to be in this space more than those of us who like to critique as a part of engagement.

Given that this series is about being imperfect and how that’s okay, surely we can accept that it’s possible to think something is imperfect (and to discuss that) and still love it.

It’s not tearing it down, it’s wanting to have a nuanced discussion about it; about what we find satisfying, about what we don’t—a lot of us love to write, and often this is a fantastic way of developing as a writer yourself!

It’s okay if you absolutely loved every inch and it worked for you in its entirety and you found everything perfect, and it’s absolutely okay if you loved 90% of it and the other 10% you didn’t. And it’s also absolutely okay if you only love 1 or 2 books out of the 3. I don’t think it’s right to expect every person in the fandom to love every inch of every book and Rainbow, or you can’t be here. Or that you can only ever discuss the things you liked.

There’s not just one right way to interact with a piece of media: critique or don’t, that’s your prerogative, leave me to mine.
