a funny thing about having a Problematic Blorbo is that you'll periodically come across a post along the lines of "um let's not forget that [Blorbo] is a bad person..." listing their various crimes, and if you have a modicum of intellectual honesty you find yourself nodding along and saying yeah it's true... but it's the greyness of their character that makes them so compelling... im slowly starting to realize i have a crippling addiction to Evil Old Ladies and its probably muriel taggart's fault. she was my gateway drug. if there's one crotchety thorn-in-your-side wench with a hat full of arguments and a fist full of nightmares in the party, then i simply do not see the rest of the party. every cast of characters i make has at least one Florida Woman terrorizing her retirement community.

i sometimes look around my house and think about the things baz and simon absolutely must have in their flat. shower chair for baz. freeweights in weird places because if they get put away neither of them will actually do their PT exercises. microwaveable beanbags and hot water bottles strewn about the place so they can always find one when they need one. The Extraneous Pillow that goes under Baz's knees when he sleeps and doesnt really have a designated spot when not in use. simon goes through splints on a monthly basis but he never throws them out because of his foster care scarcity mindset (even though baz replaces them for him regularly) so occasionally there's just a lump of pilled-up fabric and velcro with a bit of metal poking out of it where the splint wore through, totally unwearable but not yet tossed in the trash. like yeah simon has weapons everywhere in the house but baz has packets of liquid IV stashed in places that jumpscare visitors

he would not fucking say that, but with disability.. he would not fucking be able bodied. sick n tired of characters walking away from multiple life changing injuries without a scratch. let’s get some natural consequences in here.

give that knife/sword fight survivor nerve damage. give the character who was shot in the gut a stoma. give that fire survivor lung damage and an oxygen cannula. give that leg injury survivor a cane. give that starvation survivor gastroparesis. give that spinal injury survivor a manual chair or powerchair.

while we’re at it, give your characters congenital disabilities too, just because. give them intellectual and development disabilities. give them acquired and postviral illnesses. dare to make somebody bedbound. for me.
