荒瀧一斗。i don’t think i brought it up yet here,  but i was talking w / @/korarus & it’s almost like itto’s behavior gets worse because he’s putting so much emphasis on who he used to be before his vision was taken.  he may have more of a resistance to it due to being innately gifted with channeling the elements due to being an oni,  but that doesn’t mean he is without that ... hollowness altogether.  little by little,  he was losing who he was,  starting at the beginning of his memories.  itto was fueled by the stories he’s heard of his rep,  & he emulated them all he could.  his long life has made the loss of memory & ambition slow,  however,  it is nonetheless something that he saw as inevitable,  something he worried about so deeply that he is hesitant to hold on too tightly to bonds he’s forged lest the person the people he cares about grew to love ceases to exist.  i think that if he hadn’t gotten his vision back,  he’d have lost everything there was to himself within a year of it being taken.  he came close.  once again,  it’s only the fact that he’s lived long & that he’s not entirely human that such a change wasn’t immediate.  he was well aware of his ambitions long before gaining a so - called vision.

She  had  fallen  asleep  it  seemed , and  at  some  point  slipped  to  lean  on  him . Her  hand raised ,  rubbing  drowsiness out of ombre eyes  . “  𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐈'𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟, 𝐈'𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲.  “

        SILENT IS HIS VIGIL, he dare not even breathe lest he wake kokomi.  itto is not one for discretion  ---  in both speech & in his actions  ---  but for now he wills himself to be still,  a statue,  a quiet observer.  two - toned eyes are velvety in their appraisal,  a trickle of mirth at the corner of his lips along with a single,  protruding fang.

        “  ‘s no trouble,  mimi,  ”  itto reassures her,  mouth widening with wolfish affectation.  fingers curl,  &  knuckles brush against slightly mussed bangs.  then,  shift to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.  “  did you enjoy your rest ?  didn't i guard you well ?  ”

currently thinking about how itto is someone who was able to survive the loss of his ‘ ambition ’ & if anything that augmented his already competitive nature. i think it has something to do with having oni blood because it seems like humans really are the only ones without any innate gifts ( since the calamity, if it’s true that visions came after to keep most ppl from practicing magic )
