"please note that i do not approve of the 5+/- age rule." does that mean if we join an rp with that rule, we can't use your gifs? i thought most rps use this rule so that an older muses like a 50 year olds with resources from 5 years ago can use those gifs?
hi there ! to clarify, i put that there to say that i don't like that this rule exists, not that you can't use my gifs. i'm not here to police people, i don't have the time or energy for that.
in my opinion, that rule came about because several years ago, people were using fcs that were 28+ to play teenagers, and this was really really weird. back then, resources weren't at the quality or in the quantity that they are available today.
what most rps are saying with this rule is if you have 900 gifs of an fc that a content creator took pains to make when said fc was 26 years old, and that fc is now 38 years old, they are expecting you to play your character at age 33 at the minimum. what becomes weird is that this forces you to then use those gifs of what is essentially a 26 year old, as a 33 year old OR, it is an indirect way of them saying that those 900 gifs should not be used anymore, which invalidates all the effort a gifmaker put into making them.
to be clearer in example, if there are 1k++ gifs of kat graham made by somebody of her in seasons 1-3 of vampire diaries ( 2009-2011, over 10 years ago ) in pristine quality, that someone recently made, and an rper wants to use them, then rps should allow her to be cast in her early 20s, not 5 years upwards or downwards from the age she is now, which is 31. if somebody wanted to use a few hundred high quality gifs of sophia bush from her one tree hill days, they should be allowed to, and the age should be cast appropriately as well.
i hope more rps will consider allowing people to play an fc in the age range that the resources actually depict and be more flexible with the 5+/- window if there are enough resources of them. this is just my opinion, i can't really do anything to stop you other than hope that you give it a thought first before proceeding ! hope this is clear.
