@uss-sonder
New Sonder crew ArtFight refs!
Please help me get attached to these characters again
nonhuman characters with binary human genders because the writers just defaulted to it with no further thought: yawn boring
nonhuman characters with no gender or their own distinct gender system that cannot compare to humans: pretty good pretty good
nonhuman characters with binary human genders but in a distinctly transgender and/or otherkin way that implies this creature saw the concept of 'girl' and had a deep earthshaking revelation about herself: NOWW WE'RE COOKIN
Unpleasant news: I tried to draw the Sonder crew today and found out that I am very out of practice in drawing humanoids/my usual style.
Damn those cartoon dragons.
ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS
If you have a Star Trek oc crew please reblog this with your crew and explain a little about them!!!!
I wanna see more Star Trek crews and see what everyone has come up with!
If you know someone with a crew send this to them too!
I will also reblog responses on my page :)
I have a crew!! I don't have one drawing with all my guys, but I do have refs for all of them that I'll add at the bottom! :D
The USS Undauntable is a galaxy class ship that's commissioned during DS9 era that's tasked with a search and rescue mission to find lost civilians in the Maurian sector (my fan species haha)
Captain of the ship is Moak of Forjor, the first Maurian in Starfleet! Although a bit easily swayed by emotion, she's a decent captain that tries her best for her people and for those she cares about.
First officer is a Bajoran by the name of Sovehl Jaazadin. He escaped early on during the Occupation with his daughter. He's a little rough around the edges and a stickler for the rules.
The Chief Medical Officer is Dr. S'tratch, a Gorn. She's straight to the point to almost a fault. Although she appears to be a bit grumpy, she simply has a hard time with social cues.
Chief Science Officer is Asweek-Oom, an older Aurelian with a specialty in forensics and geology. He's generally quite sweet and very passionate about his work.
The counselor aboard is an older Caitian named K'Narow. Highly empathetic, he tends to overwork himself in taking care of the crew. This often results in him being quite tired and sleepy.
Chief of Engineering is none other than Seroka Klick, a Risian. Although a bit young for the position, having parents who both worked on the weather control systems back home definitely gave him a bit of a head start.
Security Chief Konorus Dret is a Cardassian defector. Heartbroken by the Occupation, he could not bear to witness it. Of course, you would never expect that to be his reasons for leaving.
I do have some other sillies with smaller positions but I don't want to ramble too much. I'm just glad to share any of my guys :]

Reblogging with my Star Trek OC sideblog!
It's a little bit outdated, but you can find some information on my USS Sonder crew here.
Also currently working on some unrelated Star Trek OCs.
9 for Raen, 37 for Tibbin, 45 for Exlar, and 49 for Tav, please! :D
Thank you for the asks!
[9] What is their love language? I think Raen is aromantic, so here are some things they do to express platonic love:
Helping you with aesthetic decisions [...whether or not you asked for their assistance.]
Learning your home planet's constellations [and making star charts of them]
Squishing or stretching themself to match your height during conversations
[37] How would they spend a lazy day when they have nothing specific to do? I haven't gotten to doing much characterization for Tibbin, so this is a good practice [thank you!] I think he would like going on casual walks in holodeck forests and wetlands. Also pottery, perhaps.
[45] For an event, would they dress like they typically do, or go all out? Exlar does have a sense of formal fashion! They're not as extravagant as- for example- Lwaxana Troi, but I doubt they would stick to an unmodified dress uniform. I know they're fond of warm palettes with gold as a primary colour. Maybe I should design some formal outfits for them.
[49] Do they possess any unexpected skill or knowledge that surprises others, and otherwise, what is something anyone would assume they know or can do, but in fact they don’t? Are you familiar with that subreddit dedicated to quick, somewhat stupid-looking solutions to engineering problems that nonetheless work? [I thought it was called r/ducttapeengineering but I was wrong.] Anyways, Tav is surprisingly versed in that. It doesn't come up very often since Federation technology usually offers more conventional repairs, but is a very useful skillset if one is trapped on a planet. On the flip side, Tav is not good at recognizing animals. She called one of the ship cats a targ once.
OC questions
60 questions that can be made into an OC ask game, or you can just fill everything out yourself to get to know your character a little better :)
___
[1] What first impression do they typically make? Are they likeable from the get go, or take time to grow on people?
[2] How does their social personality differ from how they act when they’re alone?
[3] What emotion is the hardest for them to deal with?
[4] How physically and emotionally affectionate they are?
[5] Are they good at keeping secrets?
Another character design poll. I am so sorry. Should Pollux have lighter (current design) or darker hair?
Lighter (current design, image on the left)
Darker (image on the right)

Is this how I learn Team Crystals won? I was not expecting that.
Hi hi! So can i get 5 and 8 for Lovebug for the OC ask game???
Sure!
5) Any animals you most associate with your OC?
Lovebug's fursona favourite Earth animal and the inspiration behind their primary form- a three-toed sloth.
8) Greatest strength and greatest flaw about your OC?
I would say one of Lovebug's greatest strengths is their focus. Once they have set their mind on something, it is very difficult to distract them.
Since I don't have many stories centred around Lovebug yet, I don't know much about their major flaws.
As for a minor flaw- they are not very good at expressing themself with words [unfortunately for Lovebug, this especially applies for subjects they are enthusiastic about].
Additionally, as a shapeshifter, most of their emotional expressions involve changing their form, and most of their expressions are absolutely not intuitive to other species [noteable examples include growing more eyes as an expression of curiosity and/or excitement and turning green as an expression of boredom].
[Edit: adding 4!]
4) What color or colors do you most associate with your OC?
Other than their main brown colour and the blue of their uniform, I associate Lovebug with a warm, muted gold.
21 with M'Row for the OC ask game? 👀
21) Any embarrassing secrets your OC demands you take to the grave but you will share anyway?
Back when he worked on Starbase 35-C, M'Row was mostly known for that one time he was in a Jefferies tube and someone mistook his tail for a power cord.
[That's also the primary reason he now prefers his uniforms without tail sleeves]
6, 18, and 25 from ur ask meme :3
For which characters?
OC Ask game time
1) Will your OC get married and with who?
2) Will they have any children? What are their names?
3) When is your OC’s birthday or what is their zodiac sign if you haven’t picked a date yet? Answer both if you wish.
4) What color or colors do you most associate with your OC?
5) Any animals you most associate with your OC?
6) Any flowers you associate with your OC?
7) Does your OC have a favorite and least favorite food?
8) Greatest strength and greatest flaw about your OC?
9) What is your OC’s greatest wish/dream/goals?
10) Does your OC have a family tree? Who are their immediate and extended family if you created ones?
11) What actor or voice actor do you see best playing as your OC?
12) Favorite movie or tv show or musical or book for your OC? Or all? (Don’t worry I understand setting is important for this question so only answer what applies)
13) Does your OC have a good relationship with their parents or no?
14) What about any siblings, do they have any and is their relationship good?
15) Has your OC ever fallen in love before who their intended love interest is, or is the intended love interest their first love?
16) Does your OC enjoy school or no? Did they get any education?
17) Does your OC have a pet?
18) What is your OC’s greatest fear?
19) Does your OC have any close friends?
20) What hobbies does your OC have?
21) Any embarrassing secrets your OC demands you take to the grave but you will share anyway?
22) Does your OC have a job and what is that occupation? Are they currently happy with it?
23) Is your OC religious and what religion? If it’s a fictional religion for your story please give a summary of the core teachings of their faith?
24) What kind of sleeper is your OC? Light or heavy? What side do they sleep on? Do they like to sleep over or under the covers?
25) The name you chose for your OC, why did you chose it?
Let me spill the Sonder crew's secrets. :]
Okay I actually have a lot of questions so if this is too overwhelming feel free to just answer what you want and not everything!! (Also I will absolutely show when I make them ofc)
· What Quadrant are they from?
· Any specific naming conventions aside from the bit about the sacred planting grounds or should I just throw together whatever sounds good?
· You mentioned in your pinned post that Tav has issues with foreign customs and social norms, do you have any idea of Chlorisian customs and norms?
· If they didn't join at one, is there a limit to age they can join? If they join later are they still more susceptible to illness or does joining fix this at any given age?
· Do they have any other connection to other plant life that isn't a symbiont? Is it safe to assume Chlrois has a lot of plant life like Betazed?
· Is long hair the standard, does it matter?
· Other than the obvious is there any specific traits I should be aware of in general?
· They're new to the federation but does Chloris have any preexisting connections or lore to other species / opinions of them?
I apologise for how long I took to answer!
I think Chlorisians are from the Gamma Quadrant and were contacted via the Bajoran Wormhole.
Do whatever sounds good to you! If you have interesting ideas, let me know and I might canonize them.
This is something I am actively thinking about. For one, Chlorisian grammar is quite different to English grammar, so Chlorisians might have some struggles phrasing sentences in English. Another thing is that since Chlorisians are cosexual (I believe this is the term for life forms that are capable of both "male" and "female" reproduction simultaneously, like snails), parents always have two children at a time. Having an odd number of children or an even number of siblings is typically met with condolence.
Chlorisians who are not joined with a symbiont have a higher chance of dying as a child from lack of nutrients, and will otherwise be relatively fragile. After completing puberty, the chances of successfully bonding with a symbiont decrease to less than 2%. If one has to join as an adult, the safest bet would be to do so with a symbiont that is related to one's parents' symbionts.
Chloris is full of plant life! It is a very biodiverse planet. Though the symbiont plants vary greatly in appearance, they all belong to the same botanical family. Trying to bond with a plant outside of this family will be unhealthy for both the Chlorisian and the plant. Chlorisians have domesticated several plants and animals, though.
Long hair is the cultural standard, but it is not particularly significant in modern Chlorisian society.
I will come back to you regarding this. With my previous phone's malfunction and following deactivation, most of my worldbuilding notes have been rendered inaccessible. If I remember something, I will post about it.
That is something I did not think about. Will return with answers about this in the future as well. This will be an interesting opportunity to research Gamma Quadrant species!
How do each of your original species age?
Hello!
If you are the same person who asked questions about the Chlorisians, I apologise it is taking so long to answer. To be honest, there are some things in that ask that I had not considered yet.
For the purposes of this comparison, I will say that Humans reach maturity at about 20 years old.
Anyways:
Chlorisians have similar lifespans and aging processes to Humans. Upon death, individuals considered extraordinary are buried in the Sacred Planting Grounds.
Eveh-te-Irri reach maturity at about 25 Earth years. Their natural lifespan is also slightly longer than that of Humans, but it does greatly vary based on one's origin and whether or not they align with an Order. For example, Raktal specializes in cybernetic enhancements, some of which do affect one's lifespan, and it is considered a rite of passage from acolyte to full member of the order to make one for yourself.
Wan Dor reach maturity at about 16 Earth years. It is difficult to say what their natural lifespan is for several reasons- one of which being that the tradition-minded majority of Wan Dor reject technological and medicinal advances that they believe drives them further from the planet.
Pollux's species are kind of like those "suspiciously similar to 1960's Earth" societies that appear so frequently in TOS. Other than that, I do not have many answers to give.
I created Boophians quite recently and then moved on to non-Sonder projects that were inspiring me more, so I do not have many answers regarding them.
Haii!! I was curious about your species specifically Chlorisians! Especially since in your onepost it said other people could make them. I was wondering if you only had info for them here or if you posted somewhere else like on toy house or anything?
Apologies for the late reply!
I do not have a Toyhouse, so that post has the most information I posted about Chlorisians.
Feel free to ask any specific questions about them. If you do make a Chlorisian character, I would definitely like to see them!
Fixing my Lazy Alien Worldbuilding
I originally made the Eveh-te-Irri for a scrapped fantasy project of mine called "Science is Magic". I recycled this species for my Star Trek 'verse without actually changing anything about them... except making them warp-capable.
I came up with Science is Magic when I was 14, but that's no excuse- I had other species with better worldbuilding.
So I think there is a very easy fix for the problems with the Eveh-te-Irri, and that is to have different guilds or orders dedicated to the sciences, rather than whole clans and factions. Instead of being born into a group, one is sworn into it.
I was starting to make a conlang for them, but unfortunately I lost all of my notes when my phone died.
