I headcanon that due to Diaval's constant shape-shifting, his body has become extremely flexible, and as a result, he's taught himself a variety of creepy contorionist movements.

He really likes to scare unassuming humans, finding it hilarious. However, just because Aurora is his fledgling does not exclude her from the squeamishness.

Maleficent watches this happen with a smirk on her face, feeling oddly proud. ( And secretly fascinated )

It's still funny to me that over the decade-long interim since the movie came out, I could have sworn up and down to anyone who asked that Diaval was actually shorter than Maleficent (horns notwithstanding, obviously) but, hey, it's never too late to re-learn something new xD
