@uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Working on my first animatic and I’m really excited about how this is looking. I needed to go ahead and share this part.
This is heavily inspired by a coltland gentry Au series by chubbysloth11 on Ao3. At least the vibes are. Highly recommend reading everything they’ve written! (Also idk if they have a tumblr)
our own patron saint of one way trips
Don't they look slick together?
Yes
Also yes
if i ever meet someone who doesnt like stratt i will know immediately theyre a misogynist and shouldn’t have voting rights
is this anything
i would tag the post this is based on but I lost it 😔tag the og if you know it !!
Night, because if it was a good night, I would be Stratt's controversially young gf :/
going on tumblr and reading the eva stratt tag like its the morning newspaper
Eva Stratt carefully choosing and buying and sending gifts and memorial flowers to the families of Shapiro, Dubois, Yao, and Ilyukhina, with heart-felt, hand-written letters of gratitude, commiseration, and reassurance.
And then sending herself the same gifts sans the letters for Grace because she understands what a small, pitiful consolation that is but she still mourns Grace more than anyone else.
I love Eva Stratt so much. She can do so much wrong, but I'm still on her side. The fandom doesn't give her enough credit for her own weirdness. Like why does she sniff the beanbag earth in Grace's classroom? Why does she make that weird noise in the projector scene?
When Grace is being chased down for the mission, there is a moment where she looks like the weight of the world is too much and she has to reassure herself she's doing what is best. Even when it hurts the most.
I love her so much.
Eva Stratt saw 1 video of Grace crashing out at that conference and said, "I like this one, let's bring him in"

I saw someone talking about how Eva Stratt is a problematic character that makes us sympathise with what is essentially a benevolent dictator which is a dangerous slippery slide. If we agree that Stratt having ultimate power was the right choice, what's stopping us from agreeing to this irl? But I think this is actually a bit of an insult to the readers/listerners/watchers of the book/film. I completely understand where the OP was coming from and have intentionally not linked them to this post, but still.
The fans are not stupid. The Eva Stratt fans who could never hate her are not stupid. There is not a soul in this fandom that would look you in the eye and genuinely tell you that Eva Stratt being a benevolent dictator kidnapping people for her science team, making decisions on behalf of all of humanity, and especially drugging and murdering Grace is a good thing they'd want to happen irl ever. Maybe there's one but there always is. Most people are not like this.
People love her BECAUSE she does things which are immoral because she KNOWS they are. She does them because she has no other choice. It's this or Earth dying. Stratt is a deliciously complex character whom we sympathise with, not because we think she did nothing wrong, but because we know she had to do it and that it hurts her too.
It's not nearly as clear in the film, but in the book Grace and Sratt's final scene together makes it clear just how much forcing Grace to go hurts her. She's known to be highly pragmatic. She doesn't bother to explain things which won't help get her closer to her goal of saving the world. And yet. In their final scene together, she lets herself be more vulnerable than we've ever seen (explicitly noted by Grace) and explains why she's doing what she's doing. Her reasoning is "I owe you at least that much". There is no pragmatic explanation for this whatsoever. She does it because she cannot live with herself if their argument and Grace's capture ended up being the last she ever saw of him. Her conscience can only bear so much and the murder of one of her closest is breaking her. She can take no more.
This is why people love her. Because we know she's doing horrible things. Because SHE knows she's doing horrible things. But also because we know she had no choice. It was Grace or the world. And Stratt loves the world more than anything. She could never let it die for one person, no matter how much she cares for them. This is why she was chosen. She loves the world above everything and has the strength to make decisions others could never make to save it. And that's the thing that hurts her most.
wdyk abt strattland yuri
This fandom has a serious lack of toxic yuri strattland. We’re not nutritionally balanced as a culture.
