the baby is acquired!!! i am kind of curious why her nose leather is pink rimmed with black like a tabby (which she is — mackerel black tabby with moderate white spotting) when she has white spotting on her nose. it should be pink, no? any cat color experts can weigh in on this?

what are some common health concerns and/or red flags for sphinx cats?

Heart problems. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a HUGE problem in the breed. It typically presents between 2-3 years old, but can show up in older cats. It's believed that there's at least two genes responsible for it. One has been identified, but only around 60% of HCM affected sphynxes HAVE said gene so we're pretty sure there's at least one more.

That said, a good breeder ought to be doing the genetic test and do annual screenings on the heart. It doesn't eliminate the possibility of HCM, but it lowers it.

Please don’t take your pets for granted. Even if you’re frustrated that your dog has been barking all day or your bird has been screaming for attention, remember you are all they have in this world. Give your fish that extra water change. Give your dog or cat that tummy rub they’ve been begging for. Chop up some fresh fruit as a treat for your rodents or reptiles. Just spend some time with them. Be compassionate to your animals. They are living creatures that are alive simply because you wish them to be. They may only be a small part in your life, but to them, you are their everything.
