so i had some issues with my laptop recently that weren't the cheapest to fix so i started a goal on ko-fi to get the money i had to pay for the repairs back (or at least a portion of it)

i have art comission slots open, and i am also going to start showing off some of my work in early access to members, so if you're worried your money will not get you anything in return, don't you worry :3 the current work i will be sharing with members is a sci-fi novel inspired by star trek, but further plans also include early access to devlogs for a video game that i'm hoping to make sometime in the future

🇸🇮 kot mogoče veste že nekaj časa delam na znanstvenofantastični knjigi (trenutno v stanju predelave, ker hočem bolj razvit star osnutek), in pišem tole objavo da preverim če bi blo kaj zanimanja za zgodnji dostop do nekaterih poglavji preko moje ko-fi strani kot ugodnost za člane (ne čist vseh, v slovenščini in angleščini)

malo o knjigi če niste seznanjeni: knjigo je nekoliko navdihnil film zvezdne steze (2009) in je odgovor na moje vprašanje o tem kaj bi se zgodilo če kirkov oče po uvodni sceni ne bi bil tretiran kot junak; glavni lik je jonathan winter ki se vsak dan sooča z ljudmi, ki njegovega očeta krivijo za nesrečo, ki se je zgodila zaradi napak v sistemu za katerega je delal

🇬🇧 as some of you might know, among everything else i do i've had a scifi book in the works for a while now (it's currently in a process of a rewrite that'll expand on the earlier draft), this is a post wondering if anyone would be interested in getting early access to some of the chapters as a membership benefit on my ko-fi (not all of them, and they'd be available in slovenian and english)

a little bit about the book for the acquainted: the book is somewhat inspired by the movie star trek (2009) and is the answer to my question of what would happen if after the intro kirk's father wasn't treated like a hero; the main character is jonathan winter who daily deals with people who blame his father for an accident caused by mistakes of the system he worked for

i changed from photoshop to krita in between those and got a better grasp at rendering and proportions

also this one has more vivid colours, i think i didn't colour-pick them from the kris sprite, and made them all too undersaturated in the process

I never got around to posting this here and now it's been like 2 months lmao, it's been on yt and soundcloud for ages at this point

this is really just a remix of Izzy Tensles where i inverted the tempo automation to slow down over time instead of speed up, and i slightly shifted around the included motifs to make some things more apparent to a keen ear

the obvious difference is that nothing happens in the windows flash, while everything happens in stopx5, so there's an extra added sense of dread that izzy tensles doesn't have, since it's from a more low-stakes and sillier flash

other than that, the cover was also made to inspire a bit of dread and i was sort of thinking of album covers for like, rock and metal bands and stuff that are sort of more abstract, the palette and brush choices for the bg are mainly inspired by mcr's three cheers for sweet revenge, and also by that one thing we used to do in primary school art classes where we'd cover a whole paper in like, crayon? and then the teacher would paint over it with dark paint? ink? something, and then we'd scratch our drawing into the surface

i tried to make it look cleaner but it just wouldn't work, so in the end i just cleaned up a sketch and called it a day (there's actual letters under the scratched out white bits btw)

the [s] this was made for is also fully animated by me, it was great practice to learn how to animate in krita and it's also sort of a thesis statement i wanted to put out after the shifts in the team that happened at the start of this year

putting this on this blog first so it has more chance it reaches the target audience

i went out of my way to research the claim that james roach is the evil mastermind behind homestuck post-canon after having had seen that take at the begining of the year

tl;dr: no, it was hussie's idea

(if you're not convinced, more info under the cut)

i should preface this by saying i have no strong opinion on the post-canon hs, other than i think epilogues are a bit of a slog to get through due to the fact they lost a bit of their charm by being solely text-based

homestuck epilogues and hsbc are, while you don't have to consider them canon (a source further down the line calls hs2 an "official fanonization"), nevertheless supported by hussie, as per this interview he did with austinado of vast error fame, and sees them as a good way to open up new opportunities

also, while hussie's involvment with hsbc and other current hs projects is minimal now, he's still there to consult them if needed (as per the about page on the beyond canon website)

epilogues were not james roach's idea either, see this edit from andrew hussie's newspost from 4/13/16

in fact, roach was not even involved with the epilogues (retrieved from the unofficial collection bc the actual site is shitting itself as i write this)

this archived faq from the homestuck 2 website from 2019 very explicitly states that what is now known as hsbc has been conceived by hussie

so explicit in fact that it's stated several times

i could probably go research the games too, but i don't think they're as relevant or controversial as the above

i don't really know how to conclude this, it's all pretty self-evident and clear information to me
