Had a four day run of rabid inspiration and decided to model, texture, and rig my latest DND character over the course of about 36 hours
I haven't really touched Blender since finishing the doughnut tutorial last year so it was a tough learning curve, but I had a lot of fun!
Though I think if I did it again, I probably wouldn't lovingly model every crack, jagged piece of metal, and hanging shred of fabric on his body and then attempt to unwrap it all by hand lol
You know while I'm posting my wild and unlikely Deltarune ideas I may as well come out and say it right now I honestly think Noelle could be the Knight and this idea is based entirely upon the chapter 5 weird ending, some stuff that happens in Homestuck, the fact that something that happens in one save file can retroactively affect another, and the honestly very likely possibility that there's some kind of time loop situation going on
Obviously I'm working on a post about this
We have already been inside the bunker: A Deltarune theory
I've been sitting on this half-finished theory for the past couple months now, but with chapter 5 out I've finally decided to polish it up and post it.
Spoilers for all chapters under the readmore
The bunker is one of, if not the biggest, mystery in Deltarune, and we only know two things about it:
One, it’s locked with a code.
Two, it contains a dark world.
But, what if we’ve already been inside the bunker? In fact, what if we’ve been visiting it at least once a chapter since the start of the game?
How?
Because Castle Town, and by extension, the pure fountain, are located inside.
Now, considering the entrance to the bunker is all the way on the other side of town, how are Kris and Susie getting in from the school?
Shelters of any sort can be huge. If the bunker is designed to shelter an entire town’s worth of people, it would need the space to support them, and it’s not unknown for something like this to branch out underneath other buildings.
And if you have the resources to build an actual bunker in town, then you probably have the resources to establish other entrances, for example, one to evacuate the school without needing to take the children outside.
The doors to the school’s storage closet are weird. They’re huge, they look almost reinforced, and Kris and Susie fall a long way upon entry, which would make sense if the main body of the dark world is much further underground than the entrance.
We could assume in the light world there’s nothing more than a simple trapdoor and ladder inside, which would only need to be slightly cracked open for the dark world to spill out, and was probably opened intentionally before the pure fountain’s creation.
After all, someone had to make that fountain, and with the way the bunker seems to be at the center of this particular conspiracy, it makes sense that the first and most important fountain would’ve been made in there.
Following on from that, it’d make sense of there were additional entrances and exits. The basement in the Holiday house plays ambiance very similar to that by the bunker’s doors (it may even be the same sound) and if Carol’s working with whomever’s inside, it would be reasonable for her to have her own way in.
Plus, she’s the mayor, and would need to be protected in a theoretical disaster scenario; it’s easy to see that protection coming in the form of her own door to the bunker.
Using my incredible artistic skill I’ve edited a quick diagram of the bunker’s potential position under the town:
While it probably isn't shaped like that, in order to link up with both the school and the Holiday house, it would at least need to run underneath Hometown's main street.
The idea of the bunker spanning under the town links into the prophecy as well.
In chapter 2, Ralsei describes Castle Town’s dark fountain as being made of pure dark, as an explanation as to why darkners from many worlds can gather there without turning to stone – purest night grows “beneath” the land. This could be literal as well as allegorical!
As for how it grows? Well, with every fountain we close, and every Darkner we recruit, Castle Town gets a little larger, a little fuller, and a little more complex.
We even get more evidence towards this in chapter 5; if you have all possible recruits, the blue Rudinn will describe Castle Town as “moist” and will tell Kris “I’ve never seen a sun so dark. You’ve made an oasis for us!”
In Ralsei’s synopsis of the prophecy, he says “the land will crack with fear”, and throughout every version we see, we get imagery of things literally bursting from the ground.
The Roaring is constantly being described using flooding and water metaphors, and what is an oasis except more water? It seems like the great flood of darkness that heralds the Roaring may come from underneath everyone’s feet; directly from the dark world spanning beneath the town; directly from the bunker, and in extension, Castle Town itself.
Does Ralsei know?
Ralsei’s knowledge isn’t infinite. He only seems to know what he’s ‘allowed’ to know as a guiding character – and there’s limits to that. He didn’t know the code to the bunker door, and he didn’t know Asgore had already been to a dark world and encountered the Knight.
And with his desire to stop the Roaring, it’s reasonable to assume if he knew the connection between the closet and the bunker, he’d already have said.
That being said, even if he did know, there’s no guarantee he, Kris, or Susie would be able to access the rest of the bunker from Castle Town at all.
Inside the abandoned classroom and the church, we’ve already seen that something as simple as a locked door in the light world can form an impassible barrier in the dark world. Castle Town could easily be located inside a single room, locked off from the rest of the bunker proper; Either sharing the same fountain, or with the rest of the bunker having its own.
After all, it wouldn’t make sense to lock the front door just to leave the back open.
It’s very likely that the connection between Castle Town and the rest of the bunker can only be opened from the bunker side.
If this is true, it would give the Knight direct access to the pure fountain and the recruited darkners at any time it wanted.
And what would it do with this access?
In his parting words, Flowery tells the heroes that “something horrible is stirring underneath the town”, describing it as “a darkness beyond your imagination.”
We already know that any dark fountain has the potential to become a titian, and what would be more horrible than a titian formed of the purest, most perfect dark?
When the Roaring starts, it will start deep beneath everyone’s feet, in Castle Town.
drawings are secretly the enemy because they start off very nice and unassuming but then when they're about 80% done they start emanating a malevolent aura that makes finishing them the scariest activity you can imagine
I haven't posted much recently due to my torments but I recently joined a new DnD campaign and made a great new freak for it
His name is Cricket, he's a warforged bard (college of dance!), and he got pulled out of a pile of scrap and immediately began screaming and wailing
He has no idea what happened to his face. He thinks he can apply tropes to real life. He smells like mildew and yucky old coins. His character concept is "What If Tenna Deltarune (Allegedly) Did The Bite Of '87".
