Poirot is enjoying a cruise on the Nile. A fellow passenger, the wealthy heiress Linnet Ridgeway, and her new husband Simon Doyle, are being stalked by Simon’s ex, Jacqueline. One evening Jacqueline shoots at Simon in despair, incapacitating him and confining him to his bed. Threatening to take her own life, Jacqueline has a passenger watch over her all night. The next day Linnet is found dead in her cabin but she is only the first of several victims.
