Cross stitch Esquie bookmark, designed and stitched by me. Pattern here 💜
I've designed an Esquie cross stitch pattern, that can be used as a bookmark!
He's serene, he's jovial - the definition of friend-shaped. He should be in the dictionary next to "amiable."
I did the test stitch on ~3"x7.5" of 14-count plastic canvas, and printed the little bookmarks at 70%.
The full pattern is available on my Etsy, with a birthday-month discount during July! ⤵️ I'll have nicely printed copies of the paper bookmark version with me at my next few shows.
Serene, jovial Esquie will protect you! Stitch a friend to carry with you. This pattern was designed as a bookmark! He also works excellentl

Finished a bitty commission!
The glowing blues are somewhat more violently teal in person, but the lightbulbs in here are crazy yellow; I gotta fix that.

JESUS CHRIST
This applies to so many things! Your first two inches of knitting/crocheting look like fuck-all. Your pile of fabric pieces look like fuck-all. Your first two paragraphs look like fuck-all. Your first nursing class looks like-fuck all. Keep doing the thing until you finish the thing!
Happy 20th Anniversary to the Minish Cap! To celebrate, I've released the cross stitch pattern for the 5th "stained glass" as seen in the intro...
“A long, long time ago...
when the world was on the verge of
being swallowed by shadow...
The tiny Picori appeared from the sky, bringing the hero of men a sword and a golden light.
With wisdom and courage, the hero drove out the darkness.
When peace had been restored, the
people enshrined that blade with care.”
Here's "Enshrine the Blade", available now as a cross stitch pattern.
Hyrule has been saved! The guardians of the sword have sealed the darkness within this chest, in the distant past. Stitch up the massive sta
Day... 8? of stitching on this beast, and I'm finally ready to share a progress pic 🫣 only about 40% done, and that's if I ignore all the backstitching I haven't planned out yet.
20 shades, ~6.5 x 7 inches on 14-ct Aida (aqua! I gotta find more of it, I forget where I got it)
This Zelda is feeling finished... unless she needs more sparkles? Gold thread? Help.

I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.
For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.
When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.
A painting professor tried to tell me once that the stars "weren't real" and that he didn't "believe in things he hasn't seen." It was in response to this painting I was working on. I felt bad for him.
not to sound corny but the textile arts make me feel connected to the world around me. it's so intentional and deliberate and when i sit and do it, i think a lot about how many other women that came before me used to do it, how many hands have used the same supplies i am using, and how many other people might be doing the same thing as me all across the world right now
one of my favourite things is when museums have really old sewing tools and they are so similar to the needles we use today but so many lifetimes have happened since they were last used
hundreds , maybe thousands of years old, yet so alike to what I use to create today

Today's post is the Master Sword 🗡️ it's based on the corrupted version from Tears of the Kingdom!
I did two different versions of this one - the black background has a dark scheme for the glow, and the oatmeal/cream background has a lighter scheme. It's the cool little things 😎
The Master Sword is my most detailed/complex one in terms of stitching techniques, more than the Koroks - beyond the regular cross stitches, it also has three-quarter, one quarter, and half stitches. Sometimes the quarter stitch is called petit point (french for "little stitch" - cross stitch is "point de croix" or stitch of crosses).
If you'd like a digital download of the pattern, or a physical kit, see the link below the fold 👇
