i love how valarr unconsciously goes to places close to aerion's home even tho it's far away calling him wife his mind and body didn't didn't register the divorce yet it's so cute

he's justifying every time he drives the distance and is like normal people definitely do this... no they dont babe no they dont.

valarr calling aerion wife started during their marriage because it made aerion blush, and he considered it such a second-nature thing to say that he never really registered it moving on. when he and aerion have a long enough conversation post-divorce it'll just slip out because it was so common during their marriage

i really want to read your fic it sounds very fun but i wanted to check if aerion x dunk is gonna be a permanent presence looming over valaerion or like valarr being a ****💔? i've read the tags but i got betrayed before and got jump scared in the middle of a fic now i got trust issues so i thought asking the source first if that's not rude

i’m having a bit of trouble deciphering the blocked text so i’m not exactly sure how to best answer this question, but dunk will feel like a looming presence to valarr. because this is his pov, any instance he may see dunk will obviously be biased and somewhat misleading.

this was a tagging concern of mine actually because having the relationship in the section deterred readers previously, but there’s no other tag for this kind of dynamic that i’ve found.

i don’t really consider dunk and aerion having breakfast as a betrayal to valaerion because i’ve only published the first chapter. thanks though.

hallo!! thank you for liking the fic :D i'm currently finishing a couple of assignments for my summer classes (a labelling thing for anatomy and a book study on the iliad (kill me now)), so either tomorrow or thursday!

the communication between aerion and valarr is actually a major theme within the next couple of chapters, because they keep finding themselves in situations where they are around one another. right now they are at a different level of understanding with valarr's absence from home. valarr barely understands the distance and his commitment to it, and aerion's own misconstrued understanding is causing him a lot of grief.

because the pov is valarr's, we're going to see a lot of aerion's turmoil through valarr's eyes. how he views aerion's behaviour is up to him, and sometimes it may be wrong.

little vaella is definitely looking at her uncles in utter confusion though because her parents daeron and kiera are in loveeeee

Valarr is navigating his divorce from Aerion, while coparenting their son, and trying to ignore the sheer amount of dates of Aerion's that he stumbles upon. One of these days, someone is going to get a complex from this and he sure as hell hopes it isn't him.

“I saw Muña!”

Daeron, fiddling with the oven-top, froze. Kiera, holding little Vaella away from the flame where she held her hand out, also froze. Identical expressions fixed on Valarr, who was looking away from them wincing. When he looked back, Daeron’s brows were furrowed.

“You saw Aerion?”

If Valarr was truly being honest with himself, divorcing Aerion felt more like taking a long undeserved vacation that he didn’t want but was granted nonetheless. He remained true to his words though, lest he get on his ex-wife’s bad side when he picked up their son.

He knocked on the door, ignoring the awful doorbell that he only put up because he couldn’t refuse Aerion. Can’t really do it now, either, for getting a frantic call to watch their son even if it was still Aerion’s week led him to drive the hour across town for him.

A jerked motion occurred inside the house, a jumpiness that Valarr could see in the frosted glass. Aerion stumbled slightly on his way to the door, his presentation less put-together than usual when he pulled it open. Was he in pyjamas?

The scent that slammed into Valarr nearly made him flinch. He didn’t, too practiced in its outreach to truly do anything but reach back in answer. Aerion stared at him for a moment before opening the door wider, shoulders relaxing as the scent of grass after rain wrapped around him.

hes like ‘look, my boy, theres mum’ and he goes into the restaurant because maegor asks (he didn’t, hes smart enough to know when his muña is busy) and suddenly valarr is faced with two matching faces disappointed af in him.

maegor who basically stole aerion’s face is like ‘i told you so, papa’ in a little disappointed way that matches aerion and aerion’s like ‘what’s he on about?’ to valarr.

and then little maegor is like ‘papa wanted to see you and your friend’. to which all eyes go to dunk who is sitting there alarmed and confused, and aerion just sighs in defeat

and then it happens AGAIN!! valarr just showing up with different members of the family, he took vaella from keira and daeron one night and shes genuinely excited to see aerion. aerion can’t exactly deny his niece bc its not her fault his ex husband is using her as an excuse but valarr does get the nastiest stink eye ever as vaella is introduced to dunk this time.

after it happens the fourth time (valarr ran out of children to babysit), dunk messages aerion and is like ‘figure that out and then come find me’ and ofc valarr sees this as a chance to woo his ex wife again
