i wish bridgerton was shonda's original idea. just look at queen charlotte, literally better than the entire series
ELOISE BRIDGERTON & THEO SHARPE in Bridgerton: Season Two
i wonder how those eloise "stans" would react if she's also queer. they claim to love eloise but im certain they would do a 180 if she turned out to be a lesbian as well.
it's unfortunate to see them use their "love" for eloise as a way to justify their homophobia and their desire to punish eloise for not wanting marriage. they hate eloise more than her actual haters.
i'm still of the strong opinion of breaking down Eloise and having her get married (even a marriage of convenience) is a terrible ending and message. Eloise has been adamantly anti-men and marriage! wdym you're gonna break her spirit until she gets married and tell me that's a "happy" ending. fuck out of here with that
another reason why i want eloise's story to change (aside from literally everything about philoise) is because it's repetitive if we get another season about a widow finding love. compared to franchaela, which has a more compelling plot, eloise's story is simply not interesting enough (no, sending letters and becoming a mother are not that good of a plot). even if franchaela was season 6, franchaela still has a better premise because of all the angst and guilt.
it's pissing me off so much that such an interesting character will get the blandest plot. i need eloise to be written by a better writer.
if you like philoise, i immediately do not trust you.
so philoises
- are complaining that eloise will look "old" in her season bc claudia is "pushing 40"
- are saying john "JUST" died and fran needs time to mourn (completely ignoring the fact that theres a 2 year timejump) but want marina to die NOW and off-screen
- leaving hateful comments about franchaela on reddit, twitter, and instagram
and the rest of the fandom AREN'T supposed to think yall r just a bunch of misogynistic racist homophobic shits who just wanna use a woman as a self insert bc u wanna get railed by that ugly man? Right. Sure
philoise truthers are clowns. they don't want eloise's story and love interest to change because then it would not be book accurate. but when people point out philip's glaring red flags, they always deflect by saying the show would change him and make him better. i swear, i think they actually hate eloise and just want to see her suffer.
im so glad season 5 is franchaela because now i get to see them complain and be miserable.
BRIDGERTON, YOU HAVE MORE TIME TO CHANGE ELOISE'S STORY. NOW IS THE TIME TO DROWN PHILIP
they made franchaela season 5 so that by eloise's season, the queen is already woke enough and would finally give women equal rights.
that trailer was everything. it's like seeing the rainbow after the storm. FRANCHAELA MY SHAYLAS
forget what i said, SEASON 5 IS THE BEST SEASON
eternity (the movie) is literally my nightmare. what do you mean i have to spend eternity with just ONE person? how about my friends? my family?
i cant wrap my head around the idea of centering my life around a single person.
Every time I look at posts about being aromantic I feel like I see a lot of negativity and this kinda longing to not be aro. Which is absolutely something I’ve experienced myself so no hate to anyone who feels that way
But in an effort to balance the scales at least a little, I’d like to say that I genuinely love being aromantic, and wouldn’t change it for anything. I love the unique experience it gives me on relationships, and attraction, and the world. I love how it affects my relationship with the media I consume and has become a big part of the way I engage with media as someone who’s getting a degree in media studies. I love my community
I genuinely love being aromantic
Eloise and Benedict's dynamic is both so important and so, so sad to me because like, here are two siblings, both second-born, both have great passion, and both want something greater than the conventional life their society is offering them, they are the only two people that truly seem to understand each other, and so they really only have each other to confide in
But the thing is that Benedict is ultimately allowed to have what he wants, he gets to study art, he gets to be a rake, and explore his sexuality, he gets to marry below his station, and he gets to explore who he is, and what he wants, and nobody stops him
And then you have Eloise, who gets... none of that
While the show allows Benedict to explore who he is outside of the confines of the ton, the show—and the fandom—punishes Eloise anytime she tries to do anything that is not expected of her
She enjoys writing? Violet belittles her interests and the show absolutely refuses to allow her to pursue this
She attends political rallies? She is outed to the ton, and her entire political plotline is dropped
She falls in love with a working class man, who is literally the only person in the show who actually cares to hear what she thinks? Penelope sabotages that relationship to stop Eloise from finding out her Whistledown secret
Eloise doesn't want to get married? Violet is going to punish her for it, and when Eloise is upset about it, the show is going to demonize her, and make her apologize for not loving the tradwife lessons being forced on her
Eloise wants to be a spinster? Violet is going to punish her, and the show is going to make it seem as though what Eloise wants is ridiculous, isolating, and lonely, as if there weren't societies for spinsters as 25% of noble women in that era remained unmarried
The show lets Benedict be different, it lets Benedict explore who he is, and it rewards his unconventionality
But Eloise? She is insulted, and belittled, and constantly beaten down by everyone around her, so that when becomes a man's live-in bangmaid and stepmother to children she never wanted, the audience sees it as plausible because she's now a shell of the woman she once was
This isn't character development, this is literally a twisted alt-right fantasy of leftist/childfree women being 'fixed' by a man and conforming to societal norms, becoming tradwives because their feminism and independence was really just a byproduct of how lonely they really were or some bullshit like that
The fact that the show used essentially the same archetype for two of its main characters, but the man is rewarded for the very same traits that his female counterpart is consistently punished and humiliated by the narrative for displaying is very telling of the writers mentality, and how they view feminist/childfree women
i would hate to be violet's daughter. as an aroace, i just know she'd disown me (we already know how she treats eloise).
