First Flight on Pegasus - Headcanon Valkyries
I tried Ella, i hope got good. I tried to make a small headcanon, but... by the end of the valkyrie week the other one will come out, I just need to deal with my creative block@positivewitch
At dawn, Helion's high, carefree and unmistakable voice rings on the Wind House training ring:
− How are my favorite Valkyries?! – Dressed in his usual attire, the magnificent golden crown and his charming smile, he goes towards the three Valkyrie sisters who just roll their eyes, the High Lord of the Court of the Day has this mania for making grand entrances and in recent weeks that he was training them, made a point of rocking out at every appearance (of course he doesn't have to put in a lot of effort to do that, but Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie won't let him know, he's already too presumptuous).
– We're wonderfully fine, just as we were two days ago and you're late. – Nestha speaks sarcastically and he narrows his eyes, stopping in front of them and watching them.
– Nes, you can try as much as you like with your sarcastic, demanding attitude of yours, but I know you secretly like me. The three of them like it, but they want to keep it a secret in the same way they keep secret the fact that they visit me constantly. – this male's level of smugness is infinite and the girls express it in snorts, eye rolls and mockery. But secretly he's right, well, the first part at least, the second part he snide on purpose.
Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie like him, and like him even more now he has offered to train them with the reals Pegasus in his Court. The part of keeping it a secret was the idea of the three, they want to surprise everyone when they finally become the Valkyries riding Pegasus, the only one who knows what they're doing is Rhys. And it's actually very good that he knows, since the alibi of the three is that they're on a reconnaissance mission, under the High Lord's supervision, in the Ilyrian forests. His partners didn't like the fact that they weren't allowed to know more about this quest, but if there's anyone in all of Prythian who could convince Cassian, Azriel, and Mor to stop acting like owl mothers, it's called Gwyneth Berdara and she did an excellent job.
− Let's go, Helion. You know we don't have that much time, while we're training, Rhys sorts out his other business, but he can't spend the whole day hiding. – Nestha warns.
– All right, ladies, you know I'm all yours and on your terms. – Helion smiles and opens his arms, in his familiar inviting gesture, he takes two first and then the other. Gwyn and Emerie stand on either side of his embrace:
– Don't try to charm us, it's useless, you know. – Gwyn speak fun. In the last two weeks she has been quite comfortable with Helion's presence, as well as Emerie (who was the most apprehensive around him at first), sometimes they even forget that he is a High Lord, and a very powerful one.
– Oh dear, it's never useless to use my charms on such beautiful and gorgeous ladies. – and that's why it's so easy to forget he's a High Lord. That fun and light way he has, but at the same time responsible while teaching them how to deal with the Pegasus.
After yet another small barb exchange with Nestha, he runs through Gwyn and Emerie and leaves them at their grand personal stable in the Day Court, returning to pick up Nestha.
When at last the three are together, ready and excited to start another lesson, Helion starts and brings the three beautiful, magnificent and smart winged horses, plus his own Pegasus. Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare are the extraordinarily beautiful Pegasus that Helion chose for them, although Tiare is the only female in the group and only a little lighter than the other two males, she is nothing delicate or fragile, she is so strong and powerful as the other two. Sounds of excitement and happy squeals escape Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie, but in addition to light snorts, the Pegasus show complete disinterest, just as they have since the first day Helion brought them here.
It has been so; the lessons have been to learn all about these wonderful creatures and try to gain their trust so they can ride them, but it seems that the three Pegasus are determined not to let the Valkyries even try. It's frustrating and Helion says it takes patience, as these creatures are sensitive and perceptive, at some point they will give Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie a chance, but until that moment doesn't come, they are restricted to just combing their manes and wings of the precious winged horses, and that was already a giant advance in their relationship. Even so, it seemed an impossible mission to conquer these creatures.
Sometime after they've arrived at the Day Court and, once again, no progress has been made with the winged horses, the sisters sit together on a nearby bench and, while Helion tends the mane of your Pegasus himself, the others three Pegasus are sleeping peacefully, they admire the view: how the stable is at a high point, Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie have this dazzling view of the day in its heyday and splendor.
Discouraged, they sigh. Nestha and Emerie lay their heads on each of Gwyn's shoulders and the sisters stand there, feeling the wind in their faces and thinking of ways to gain the trust of Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare. Minutes later, a large shadow falls over them: Tane, the Pegasus of Helion and the High Lord himself, who is frowning:
– I didn't think you guys would give up quickly.. – The girls glare at him.
– It's not about giving up, it's about those three not liking us. They are impossible. – Emerie speaks as she looks at Tiare, the winged female just stares at her, that spark of interest appears, but nothing is done.
− They are not only impossible; they are stubborn and stubborn in the extreme. I understand a lot about stubbornness, but their level is pretty high. – Gwyn speaks and Nestha agrees:
– Yes, I tried to stroke Kaleo's head and he almost bit me! They may be beautiful creatures on the outside, but on the inside they must make plans to leave us exhausted and ragged at the end of each training. − While they express their questions, Helion just stares at them with his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed. So he says:
− Do you understand? Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare are just like you. Stubborns and stubborns as forces of nature. I didn't choose them for you, they chose them. – When the Valkyries frown in utter disbelief, he continues:
– Do you remember the first time you came here? I introduced them to all the Pegasus at the stable and they were excited, but do you know why you guys are training with those three stubborn ones? Why, for the first time in decades after Amarantha, Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare showed interest in someone, you guys. They didn't let anyone near them, they didn't give a shit about anyone, I tried to approach them again and again, but nothing helped, they don't even fly anymore. These three have been through a lot and I don't even know what it was exactly. These winged horses see something in you guys. Nestha, when you make a sarcastic comment or challenge me, Kaleo seems almost proud and amused. Gwyn, the days Hiro sees you are the days I'm not called to control him because he's having nightmares, he likes it when you sing, it soothes him. Emerie, Tiare always messes up her mane right after you fix it because she likes you petting her, even if she doesn't show it. They weren't created to be trapped, they were created to be free, to fly whenever they want. They are smart and powerful, Horses of Valkyries, to fly with you guys, go into battle with you and protect you. That's what I thought when I invited them to come train with them. Don't give up on them, lift your Iliryan leather-covered asses and go conquer them. Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie, if you can gain the trust of these Pegasus, they are free to stay with you. Once a Pegasus chooses someone to trust, it is an unbreakable and eternal bond, these are loyal creatures. – Helion tenderly strokes Tane's head, who leans towards him.
Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie are totally emotional, speechless and open-mouthed. Did Helion really just say all that? Is it all true? Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare might like them? Damn, looks like they like them! They have their own story of resilience just like the sisters. Oh God, all that these Pegasus have suffered... Would they give up on these beautiful and magnificent creatures? Absolutely not!
Immediately, determined, the three Valkyries rise and, at an absurd speed, pass by Helion and Tane. It no longer mattered whether they would fly in a Pegasus or not, but the place for the three winged horses is high, flying, in the sky, in the clouds, free.
Nestha arrives first at Kaleo, who doesn't even bother to lift his head to acknowledge her presence:
– Let's get one thing straight: I don't care if you like me or not, believe me, I've spent a lot of my life being hated by many, but you know what? None of this affects me. This is me. Now, can you give me a chance to prove I'm not such a despicable being or just keep your lazy ass lying there and not give a damn about anything and get stuck here, when we all know your place is flying in the sky.
Gwyn arrives at Hiro, who is perhaps the most difficult of them all and also doesn't recognize the Valkyrie's presence:
– Well, big boy. You already know who I am, but I'm going to introduce myself informally now: I'm Gwyneth Berdara, the most stubborn and determined person you've ever met in your life, if you think you can beat me in the game of stubbornness, you're wrong, lot mistaken. You can stay there mocking me, but I'm not leaving, I'm resistant. I won't let you shut yourself off from the world and I'm tired of the gentle approach. Like it or not, my ass will be planted right here and you will Spread your huge and beautiful wings to get back to the skies, let's see who will win by endurance.
Emerie arrives at Tiare, who is the only one who takes the trouble to actually recognize any of the Valkyries:
− Hey girl, Helion just talked about her story. I'm sorry for everything that happened to you, but I'll tell you something serious: Don't stop flying, don't stop feeling the wind rocking your wings and feel this incredible freedom. You know, I would give anyth ing to be able to fly again, but things are as they are, you can't change the past. Regardless of anything, I'm not going to let you waste your wings staying here all the time, as of today I'm going to start getting tough on you. Pity doesn't make us stronger and self-pity only puts us deeper. Eventually you won't resist this beautiful sky, and I'll make sure you start exercising your wings. We've got a lot of work ahead of us, girl, and you don't have the option to refuse.
The three Pegasus just stared at those sisters, nothing more. But Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie were resolute and determined: they were going to put those stubborn creatures to flit again.
In the next few days of training with the winged horses an unexpected thing happens: it seems that they are not so angry and, strangely, they allow the Valkyries to comb their manes without any act of rebellion. Helion's response to the sisters' question:
− Maybe you're finally getting along, guys. Now that you have made clear your position of not giving up on them. Now might be the time to try to saddle them and climb on their backs.
This surprises them, but the excitement and happiness fills them. Perhaps these beautiful creatures will finally return to the skies.
Excitement and happiness are soon replaced by indignation when Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare refuse to let them saddle them.
− How are we going to fly in them if they don't let us put on the saddles? – Nestha asks no one in particular.
− Maybe they want to fly alone? − Gwyn suggests and then a silence rises around everyone. At the same time, the girls give up trying to put the saddles on the Pegasus and move back a little, giving them space. Helion watches everything.
But then none of the Pegasus moves, they just stare at the three Valkyries. Then something pops into Nestha's mind:
− What if…− She slowly approaches Kaleo and the great black Pegasus, for the first time, spreads its huge majestic wings fully. Nestha keeps getting closer until she's right in front of him: − I know that for the Iliryans wings are something very precious and private, I don't want to hurt you, so if we're going to do this you need to help me, right? I'll climb on you without saddle up, I'm kind of trusting you with my life. – She speaks softly and then does exactly what she said she was going to do. With Kaleo's full cooperation, Nestha Archeron climbs on top of him and so she is finally a Pegasus-mounted Valkyrie and that's one of the best things she's ever felt in her entire life.
It seems like the world goes silent, stopping to see this scene, this moment that is so... special. A Pegasus telling a Valkyrie that he trusts her. With a huge smile, Nestha smoothes the fur on Kaleo's neck, who responds with an excited whinny.
Shyly Gwyn and Emerie go to their your own Pegasus and do the same thing.
That's it, this moment will definitely make the three sisters' best moments lists. The moment when the three of them are on the backs of these beautiful and strong creatures, the moment that these Pegasus will return to the skies and wanted to share with them. It's as if Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie feel within themselves, running through their bones, the bond that has just been solidified between them and the Pegasus.
− That's it, big boy. You're safe, you three are safe. − Gwyn speaks to Hiro and then, as if in prayer she raises her voice: − No one will ever again dare to hurt you three, you are not alone, you have us and we are the rock against which the waves break, nothing can break us.
− Nothing can break us. – Emerie and Nestha repeat.
As if they were just waiting for this, the three Pegasus start to run and then launch themselves into the skies. Their powerful wings beat gracefully as the Valkyries clung to them. Higher and louder and it's liberating. Looks like Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare were made for Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie. It's fantastic, indescribable. The air feels clean, pure, unlike anything the girls have ever felt, the immeasurable peace, the adrenaline coursing through their veins and the emotion guiding them to a whole new place within themselves. A sense of belonging emanates from the Pegasus, as if they are saying how happy they are to fly again, as if they are saying they feel safe and complete. The wind rushing against them, but nothing stops them, it is as if they fly every day. An overwhelming feeling and at the same light , take fills them. Hair in the wind, hands gripping the manes of legendary animals, their sisters chosen from the side, and higher and higher...
Nestha, Gwyn and Emerie have gone far, fought their way to where they are now and will keep fighting. Now they will be unstoppable, mighty Valkyries with three mighty Pegasus. Kaleo, Hiro and Tiare are free, completely free.
The girls don't realize how long they've been flying and incredibly the Pegasus fly directly to Velaris, as if they knew that there would also be a point of safety, support and even a home if they wanted to. Helion once told them that these beautiful creatures know all of Prythiam and even worlds beyond.
Flying over Velaris, the Valkyries and their Pegasus draw attention. And little by little the familiar faces appear: Elain, and Feyre with Nyx in her arms, Amren, Varian and Lucien, then Cassian, Azriel and Mor, followeds by Rhys and even Helion. Confusion fills the IC's faces, but Rhys must have said something in their minds because then surprise, realization, and wonder cross his features.
Pride warms the hearts of the Valkyrie sisters. Your Pegasus. The Pegasus who chose them.
The people of Velaris did not see ordinary females, saw Valkyries flying on Pegasus and looked like mighty goddesses with the sunset behind them and on their winged horses.
Maybe the world had understood the importance and that's why it decided to give them a little more shine and light.
Maybe Koschei should prepare and start being afraid, the Valkyries will be unstoppable
