Believe it or not the fanon Steph thing that annoys me the most isn’t the overemphasis on waffles or the relentless cheerfulness or even the glitter. For some reason people acting like she had / would have an at all positive relationship with the Riddler just grinds my gears SO much.
Like of all the untrue shit you could say why would you pick the thing which can be easily and succinctly debunked by like the many many panels of Steph kicking the shit out of him while filled with intense rage and hatred. Stop lying. She was not hanging out w the Riddler as a child. We literally see them meet for the first time and it’s when the Riddler is crashing in her house and upsetting her mother.
Maybe it’s bc of how important it is in Steph’s narrative that she has like no trusted adults in her life. Like bc that’s the crux of her decision to become Spoiler- no one else was going to step up. Like every adult figure in her life had screwed her over / tried to take advantage of her / betrayed her trust. From both her parents in vastly different ways, to the former “safest person in her life” her gymnastics coach, to the pedophile who was supposed to be a trusted family friend. Like the people who make these posts don’t deep read Steph’s past so they don’t realize just how much it undermines to say she was hanging out with ‘Uncle Eddie’ or whatever during her childhood. It just also to me just seriously undercuts her childhood trauma with men, especially men who are friends with Arthur. Like to each there own I guess, but I just can’t stand it.
