Lore of my fairytales' goblins

WARNING

Some of the goblin’s comportement is cruel and very controversial in purpose to really emphasis their evilness. Thoses are, in no way, acts I support or forgive.

Goblins are usually cruel little shits.

They are humanoid creature with a greenish skin, sometime going toward turquoise but that is rare. All shade of green is possible though. They are usually ugly with big nose, very long ears, little eyes, body very disproportionnate, usually with legs and arms longers than they should compared to their body. They are usually bald or with two or three hair on their head.

Goblins don’t have metabolism. If a goblin is born skinny, he stay skinny, if he’s born chubby, he stay chubby.

They are small, the smallest height known is 110cm, while the tallest is 140cm. Some very, very rare ones goes over. This size have nothing to do with their age.

They love cruelty. More like... they don't know love, in any form. Friendship, romance, family? That's foreign concept for them. Only count the strenght and wit.

They don't really have magic but goblins are naturally good with crafting, any kind. A goblin could easily craft a modern machine in a medieval-fantasy fairytale world and rudimentary material, he would still do it.

They live in deep cave and only get out to pillage the surface peoples, humans, elves, orcs, merfolks if they can, dwarf... anyone crossing their path. They kill, they r*pe, they steal, they have absolutely no compassion. They steal mostly food, because food is scarce in the caves.

They don't fear the light, however their vision is not that good in light, but excellent in the dark.

They don't care about modesty and some of them even never put on clothes, though some do put on makeshift clothes to protect from cold or as armor. There is barely any female. there is about 1 female for 20 different clans (clans can go up to hundreds of individuals). So their genetic allow males to produce babies. They lay eggs.

Once an egg is laid, the instinct-mode parent is forcefully held and the egg is taken away. The egg is then throw in a pit with all the eggs they have. The babies hatch after a month and they already can walk after the first seconds. However they must climb if they want to survive. This is how it work. They are taken if they climb, they are left to die if they don't. The babies are not taken by a parents, they don't even know who is who's parent, they are taken by a master. A goblin from one of the clan's jobs grab a baby he want to learn his job, place his mark on the baby (every job have their own symbol) with hot iron, and immediately start to teach... yep right after being born they learn their job. There is no love, no cuddles, no kisses, no lullabies.

The jobs disponible for goblins are: -the cook -the inside forager (forage anything they can find within the cave, mushrooms or else) -The guards (guard the entrances) -the hunter (one of the rare that go outside) -The outside forager (because they don't always have villages to pillage) -The scout (to find new villages to pillage) -The battle master (the one who dirige the raids) -The milk farmer (the one that keep any goblins who had eggs to milk them so they can feed the babies without breastfeeding -so without contact with the babies) -The craft master (the one who supervise what everyone craft (all goblins kinda craft but they shouldn't craft cute things for example) -The Tunneler (expands the cave system, digs escape routes, collapses tunnels on enemies (or rivals). knows which walls will collapse, where water seeps, where to dig safely. Half miner, half “mystic engineer.”) -The Hoard Keeper (catalogues and guards the clan’s loot piles. Not necessarily trustworthy, just paranoid enough to remember everything.) -The Fire Tender (maintains smoke flow, fuel supply, and hidden ventilation so the cave doesn’t suffocate everyone.) -The Rot Tender (manages fungus farms, rot piles, and “controlled decay” areas for food cultivation.) -The Beast Keeper (raises cave creatures (bats, blind lizards, worms, maybe worse) for food, defense, or materials. Without any real care and love of course.) -The Bone Collector (strips carcasses, sorts bones for tools, weapons, and decorations. Nothing goes to waste.) -The Toxin Brewer (makes poisons, spores, stink bombs, hallucinogens, basically goblin chemistry.) -The Stitcher (repairs goblins (badly). (basically a doctor) -The Noise Boss (keeps order through intimidation, shouting, and sometimes violence. Goblin HR, basically.) -The Punisher (enforces rules. Take pleasure in torturing. Get bored when nobody commit a mistake) -The Shaman (Rare, deals with superstition, cave spirits, lucky bones, bad omens. Goblin mage) -The Glow Keeper (manages bioluminescent fungi or captured glowing creatures for light.) -The Screamer (alarm system. Literally just yells when something’s wrong (or sometimes when it isn’t). Often work with the guards) So it is decided for them at birth.

When goblins r*pe humans, they go for the mens, and prefer being bottoms. Not because they love it, just because they prefer bringing back their egg rather than waiting for a human woman to give birth after 9 months. They are not patients.

Goblins can live very long. Since they tend to die in battle, from badly cleaned injuries of fighting between them, nobody is sure of the maximum they can live, but some heard of goblins above 1000 years old.

Despite this long live spawn, they consider 14 as their « adult age », or more like, they don't even aknowledge the difference between children or adults, since they are small even as adult and their children already act -are forced to act- like adult from birth.

More like, they considere during the 14 first years a goblin can be modelled, can be forced to "fit in the mold". But after 14, it is impossible. That is why when a goblin is too kind, too curious, too naive, too... sentimental, they chase him away only after 14.

They never connected the dots about why thoses -not as rare as they pretend- kind goblins are born.

Every so, a goblin, or multiple, are born, prettier, gentle, too kind, too emotionnal, curious and distracted, playful... kinda like a human child. Goblins keep pretending it is a very rare and that these kind goblins are deviants, but it actually happens pretty often.

Because of their habit to throw all the eggs in a pit without any way to differenciate them, they never realized thoses goblins are usually born from the eggs got with other races. Thoses kind goblins are actually, half-goblin and half-any other race. More often humans and elves. As orcs, dwarves and some other have a strong temperament, so they get closer to the full goblins.

Thoses goblins are then cast away at the exact moment they turn 14. Banned from the cave.

Of course during their 14 first years, they often got punished.

Goblins also use short names. Usually no more than 3 letters. Ish, Mug, Ork, Mys, Iaz, Pik, Rek, Zef, Ruu, Mur, Vil, Fuk, Cum, Jam, Coq... Sometime only 2 letters. Eg, Mo, … more rarely but it happened, only one. It’s mostly onomatopoeia.

Humans are terrified by goblins

Goblins can only see in shade of green and gave different names to the different shade.

Their blood is green.

They are a primitive race. Many think they can still evolve… maybe better… but they may evolve into something more dangerous too.
