She smiled. “See now you’re getting it! So how’re you settling in?” She asked as she walked further into the office.

"Well, that's one way to put it." Actually, it was the best way as he leaned back in his chair. "Decently well I suppose. I have been meaning to check all the extra entry ways to keep a few people out. Because if I could get in easily before - I'm sure some of them can." It was an idle observation, but one that Angel knew that was important. At least for where he was now.

"You'd be surprised how good it feels to be high above everyone else. To know all I have to do is snap my fingers and they stop what they are doing and come to me." He pauses. "Is it always like this?"

"There was once a time I was going to do anything to tear it down. Brick by brick, but then I came to realize that there was no point in it. Tear down the building and what's behind it still remains."

"Now, I suppose . . . I'm grateful for this? And I... might care about the building?"

"You'd think that after the whole, setting people on fire, betraying a fair amount of former friends and of course joining evil inc," Angel pauses, "that not very many people would keep on showing up, but here you are."

"Not that I mind, but it does get to be a little weird sometimes."

So, as I was sitting in the car, while my mom was having her test, i was thinking about Angel. Specifically, season 5 angel and my version of angel.

About how working at wolf ram & hart was one of the best things that could have ever been done. He was given everything - a second chance and a new life.

Furthermore, when Cordelia Chase came back from the powers that be during that season, it was because of what happened during the time that being from another world controlled her body / what have you, I don't remember fully.

Yet, when she came back, it was not simply because she wanted to put angel on the right path - she came back to give him a reason to keep on fighting and give closure, which he needed.

However, my Angel . . . given that all that stuff happened even though, he didn't have that epiphany before going to that other dimension thing! He would be working for the senior partners much earlier.

Now, let's say that Cordelia did come back from the powers that be to give him another chance at an epiphany. However, this time the reaction would have not been to give her a chance. Would things end up working out? Yes. However, it would only solidify the fact that the powers that be only want to use him.

Let's just say . . . Angel my version is not -decent-.

“They should have left you at the bottom of the ocean to rot.” he said through a sneer. Of all the terrible and true things Holtz had told him about his father he had left out just how smug the vampire was. “I’ll just have to make sure I kill you next time.”

"Now first off, they didn't and second? You're not even the first hundred in line," Angel says sharply, his hands sliding behind the small of his back. "I think you're down in the eight hundred range. Maybe even lower."

"Third," he says, taking a step closer, "I don't think the senior partners would enjoy that. Something about keeping me alive and trust me . . . you don't want to fight them."

“You didn’t really think I’d stay away, did you?” She had been told to stay away from him, that the people he was working for were evil. She had spent enough time at Wolfrom and Hart to know they were no good. But her brother had left her with strangers. They were good people and had been caring for her, helping her understand this strange new time, but Liam - Angel was her only link to her life before.

"Well, I would have hoped that you thought this through first. Not that I have a problem with it, but others," Angel pauses for a moment. "They might think that I am trying to turn you into evil incarnate. That I'm going to make an army of demons and vampires come after them." There was a hard roll of his eyes. "I mean, I could, but," he trailed off for a few moments, "I'm glad you're here."

“Yeah, I can see how going from vermin eater, to vigilante, to CEO of Evil Inc would be difficult to explain.” Lawson glanced around the dimly lit office and shook his head. “You’ve been busy. Gotta say, I’m sort of glad. Watching you be all sad and pathetic these past few decades was getting tiring. Killing you then would have just been a mercy.”

"Honestly? I think I would have accepted it." Not really, but it was an observation of times passed. "I wouldn't have even fought back after the Darla situation, but . . . ." he trails off. "Things changed. More or less. I mean, I still have people angry at me, but at least now, they can't get into the building. At all."

"i've already had it to my eyes in interns this week. always going around and saying they can be decent, but then . . . they look into a wrong room or turn down the wrong hallway. I really....need to get someone to put better signs up."

Or rather, any signs up telling people that down some doorways ended up being portals to nowhere or just a never ending falling hole of doom. Maybe even an entrance to another dimension or two or leading to a room that leads to another and an endless set of doors.

"This is exactly what it looks like. No, I will not explain. It's too," Angel paused for a moment, "difficult to."

"You know, when I first started working for the senior partners, they told me there could be some funky things going on. I mean, time altering, end of the world - yeah, I saw that. Going into another dimension to save the world? Again, yes, but really . . . do you have to be that brooding? I thought I was bad, but you take the cake."

"Let me guess . . . you're still sad about Buffy."

"This isn't a social call." It was a simple and to the point. At the same time, however, Angel knew that things could change in an instant. He could change his mind or opt to forget why he was here in the first place, but it wasn't like it mattered very much.

In the end, he would do what he would do and that was all there was to it.
