Summary:
The end of Mike's senior year is looming on the horizon like a cat waiting to pounce- but Mike had never gotten this far with his plans for his own future. He had never thought past defeating the evil forces of the Upside Down and hoping that he and his friends would be there at the end to tell the tale.
The thing is that now that he's here, he can't stop feeling like there's an invisible rope pulling him towards Will, can't think of any other way to spend his college years other than in the same school as him, even if their friendship is still healing from Mike's own efforts to push Will away.
His relationship with Will had been morphing, shapeshifting into something Mike can't place his name on, something he wants to pin down and look in the eye but can't. It felt like a flame that burned him every time he tried to touch it, while being the same thing that kept the room bright and his skin warm.
tldr; Mike wants to grab Will by the shoulders and ask him, "What are we?"
