It's quite meta that some fans comment how Lestat 'looks like shit' in his own season, because yeah, that is kind of the point, isn't it? The Lestat in the first two seasons wasn't a real person, he was an amalgamation of Louis and Armand's memories and they both kind of objectified and dehumanized him (especially Armand), showing him either as this evil monster or this bombshell love interest with little interiority and literally no life whatsoever outside them.

Now we are seeing that *gasp*, he has a life, hobbies, a job, friends and co-workers outside Louis. That he has his own fucking problems and can't be always the villain or the love interest of either of those two's stories. He's allowed to look messy because he is not primary seen as an object of desire or as a pristine evil stepmother.

I wonder why, it's almost as it is his POV and we are supposed to see him as more. Who would have imagined?
